Canada in the Rough™ just announced that Global Television/ Shaw Media will be cancelling all hunting shows on Global and Shaw affiliate networks. Canada in the Rough™, Canada's most-watched hunting show, will be pulled off Global Television after December 30, 2012.
Their announcements reads, "Canada in the Rough™ has been airing for 8 years on Global Television and we've had a tremendous experience doing it. We want to thank all of you for your support throughout the years and as much as we hate to say goodbye, we have no choice."
"Our hunting heritage is under constant attack by those who have forgotten that hunting is at the root of human existence and still the most valuable and effective tool in wildlife management."

People don’t want to see Bambi’s mother killed and so they protest hunting shows. These same people believe that the juicy T-bone steak they barbecued and enjoyed last night magically appeared at the grocery store or their local butcher. Same with the bacon or sausages they eat at breakfast and the lamb kabobs they ate at the greek restaurant the other night.
Kind of like an ostrich with its head in the sand. If I can’t see it - it isn’t real.
Sad state of affairs.

I don't have cable, but when I did, I didn't even know about this show. I would've watched it if I had. Too bad.
Darn it all to heck!
And they had great theme music too!
When I found out I called Shaw and cancelled our service. I didn't even particularly care for the show, but I refuse to pay a company that does something like this. We had been thinking about dumping Shaw as we were not all that happy with it (tv in general for that matter) and that was the final straw.
Let no good deed go unpunished.
The Vancouver Humane Society requested all their members email shaw and global to try and remove the hunting shows from TV last fall I guess they did. Now we need to send emails and show our support for the hunting shows.
I sent one today and will send a new one weekly.
