As winter is most certainly here, I figured I'd post a reminder for everyone to review their car kits.

I just finished rotating out a few items, and brought the rest up to spec. which leaves me with a kit that is horribly over engineered for city travel which is 95% of my driving but I'd rather be over prepared than under, especially during a Canadian winter 🙂

Jumper Cables
Scraper/brush
Induction Flashlight
Reflectors
Lug wrench (one of the cross types because I don't have the arm strength to get the damned things off if I can't jump up and down on the crossbar)
Spare Tire & Jack
Handful of wrenches and screwdrivers in common sizes
Crowbar

Canned heat and folding stove
Candles & matches
Camping pot with handle
2 random mountain house entree dishes (Pasta Primavera and Beef Teriyaki with rice to be exact)
Box of granola bars
12 pack of water (this is wrapped in plastic and towels... an experiment to see if the bottles will surive repeated thawing and freezing through the winter)

Sleeping bag
change of clothes (includes almost half a dozen pair of socks. I can deal with a lot, but wet feet isn't one of them)
Rain poncho
Emergency blanket
Toilet paper
Plastic bags
Novel I haven't read

First aid kit

Complete extra set of winter gear. Touque, scarf, gauntlet mitts, cheap stretchy gloves.
Mukluks - these I made myself out of moosehide, and are built around a pair of Sorel bootliners which means they're good to about -50.

I figure with this I can weather any emergency if not comfortably, at least without fear.

those are all good items that I will add to our kits. Thanks for the ideas 🙂
