Anita - just maybe this article will make more people think about what could happen to them in a SHTF scenario. The more people who can "wake up" and take responsibility for themselves and their families the better. We don't seem to get many articles about Aussie preppers (I think we're all hiding to keep under the radar - even the Aussie preppers network seems to have gone quiet lately) maybe because the majority of Australians don't think that when SHTF it wll involve us in any way (possibly because we are so far from America - I think it will truly be global when it comes). Good on you for stepping up and having the integrity to say your piece.

susannah755 - I have a heart for Aussie's - my daughter married one 🙂 I must say I am very thankful they live here close to us but I feel bad for his parents so far away!
I did have a chance to "say my piece" but after I did I wondered if I had done the right thing. I felt very exposed and decided that for then on we would do our "preaching" right here at Canadian Preppers and on my blog. At least that way I get to say what I want to say and respond to those who disagree - besides - y'all are nicer here. Some of the comments on the article were pretty mean-spirited and I can do without the drama!

Wilderness Return - yes, you are correct re our resources but there is a lot of open space in Australia where it is very hard to find water and there aren't very many signposts in the outback so ... unless you can find water, know where you are going, can read a map and navigate you could very well become lost. I have read all the "tomorrow" books and watched the movie several times. I also have a background in the Military (5 years) so I'm comfortable in the bush. But the reasons that you outlined are the very reasons why I'm prepping. The densely inhabited areas are around the coastline - that is why I live 3 hours by car from the coast. Country people are a lot more practical (in most cases) than city dwellers and the town I live in is small and surrounded by native bushland (very easy to disappear if necessary).
Anita - great to hear that your daughter married an Aussie. You're also doing a fine job with this site (as are all the talented contributors) - I'm glad that the interview outcome hasn't dampened your enthusiasm.
