I just seen this today... has anyone else heard of this?

http://news.sympatico.ca/oped/coffee-talk/ontario_police_keeping_track_of_gun_sales/1570f930

I'm thinking my family in Ontario will simply travel to Manitoba to buy anything new... not sure how practical or relevant an idea this is.

(guns don't kill people; people kill people by whatever's handy)

Dealers have always kept records. I have much more of an issue with an electronic record guarded by "less than internet security savvy" people.
The registry made it far too easy for unsavory characters to get information on who had what guns.

You don't have to leave the province, just have the firearm shipped, I do it all the time. It cost about 25 or 30 bucks to have rifle shipped by Canada Post to any province.

I concur with the phone guy. Buy your firearm in a province that has stopped tracking by mail order. Shipping is usually reasonable.

Sadly, in Ontario, not only has our leaders decided they know better then everybody of what's good for us all...they have seen fit to also outsource fishing/hunting license to an online process administered by a US company in Tennessee http://www.ofah.org/news/MNR-LAS-raises-concerns

Just as an update for Ontario's herding us in the right direction, there's a statement made by the fed's http://www.ofah.org/news/firearms-record-keeping-upheaval

Clubs like the OFAH - or whatever provincial/territorial equivalent - are very good to throw some support towards.

If you buy from joe bob down the road there is no trail and its Legal
Hope this helps
