I had no idea that there was this kind of law in effect. I think it is rather stupid............your thoughts?
Illegal Front Yard Garden: Canadian Couple's Kitchen Garden Targeted By Authorities
That is bullcrap! Look at how many front yards look like crap! That yard is gorgeous! (I admit I am very jealous) and it looks like it has always been designed with the house.
I hope the town backs off and the whole street, town joins in their awesome design and plan for fresh is best!
This is how our yard is done, but the garden is in the back and we have medicinal plants in the front and flowers_but we eat the lillies, johnny jump ups, elderberries, creeping thyme,I have planted zuchini/snow peas for the trellises...there was a home in the USA that had this issue not long ago...it is all part of ICLEA/Agenda 21/Sustainability ...the USA is starting to put laws in effect making it illegal to garden period, they have a law now they want people to register their gardens.

you are kidding right 😯
Talking about stupid laws, many of the US state, are declaring it illegal to catch and store rainwater. They are deciding that it is state property, and yet they gave Nestle's unlimited rights to suck up the aquafier in Michigan, to sell to chumps like us. They dont even have to pay for this water. The farmer wells are going dry. 😐

Due to my open building permit, one of the town inspectors came by to check on our progress and see if we needed an extension. He commented how nice my front yard garden was and wished that more people would do that. I guess that means my garden is within the law!
Oldschool. That is horrible. I can,t believe the city saying that awesome garden is illegal. I wish my garden looked like that.
By-laws are made by municipalities. Some are necessary and desirable whereas others like this one are questionable or worse. However by-laws can be amended or repealed. It depends on the current council. If the by-law is poorly written then it can be challenged. For example there would need it be a completely unambiguous definition of what constitutes a "front garden" written into the by-law. A second approach that is often used is to sue the municipality for preventing enjoyment of the property. This may or may not be successful but it can cost the municipality a small fortune in legal costs and affect their already very high insurance rates. Either way it may oblige them to reconsider their position.
Does that mean I have to sell my miniature cows? Too bad. I almost had them trained to bring me the newspaper!
That was a cow 😯 and here I had thought it was an ulgy dog. 😆

Oh that thing? That was my dog. Yeah, he is ugly. 😆
Front yards with gardens make far more sense to me than rolled out sod. A neighbour of mine has a large garden beside their house (faces the street as they are on the corner) but they have it fenced off...looks much like this one though.
Those rainy days you were saving for...may not be quelled by cash.
It depends on location, it depends on the local rules but most of all it depends on the people. We should do everything that we can to promote healthy lifestyles and healthy living.
Well I'd be getting out the tape measure. They have a lot of walkway space. The rest I'd stack garden above the ground level just to p them off. It would also free up a bit of poster space about who I wouldn't be electing next term as well.
A few trips with donations down to the local soup kitchen would go a long way in rubbing lettuce leaves in the Council's face as well.
