New "survival" video game I came across. Your plane has gone down in northern Canada, you're stranded in the "wilderness", left to your own devices to survive. It's kinda fun, appeals to the prepper side of me. It's kinda limited in scope - you can't, for instance, cut down one of the many trees for firewood - but even with the game's limitations, it's an entertaining little time-waster.

I've managed to live 15 whole days on the easiest "Pilgrim" setting, although I have yet to discover any of the prepper caches...

I got this game last year when it was still in Beta off of steam. Love it for the 'wilderness survival' theme. Live out your fantasy of being a rugged woodsman from the comfort of the couch! Another great game I love off steam is called This War of Mine. Its made to resemble war in the Baltics I believe, where you control a single or small group of survivors who are stuck behind after war breaks out. You will always be scrambling for food, medicine, and supplies and will occasionally have to make tough decisions such as whether or not to help others, including children. I liked the challenge of it, since most other games I have played you can eventually get enough supplies to be comfortable, whereas in this one the best I've ever gotten to be is just not starving. An add on to the game even adds children to it, who are really only drains on supplies and morale as the adults worry for the kids. I think it really puts a more realistic spin on what survival would be like, since I think many of us figure with prepping it would be a breeze.
It's been a while since I played it last. Looks like I should give it a spin again...
