I feel so jealous of all the good deals and big scores people have been getting. I wish that the we could just "like" someone's post as there were too many to list here. I think getting deals and scrounging are part of the lifestyle.

Hubby finally was able to get to "my" section of the basement. I claimed it for food storage, so he installed the wire shelving that we have had for a few years. More to be installed. I started an inventory sheet on the computer and have been canning as much as I can. Dehydrated 4.5 pounds of mushrooms as well as some pineapple and mandarin oranges. The mandarins and pineapple are just like candy. The bananas and kiwis are good too, but not the same.

I bought 50 pounds of potatoes and am going to try putting them up in different ways. Nice weekend project. 😛

Like what has been said before, garage/yard sales have started, and for the early riser, canning jars can be found cheap. Also, pressure cookers that need new seals (seals are cheap), also look for non-electric tools, and knives. Sometime a good backpack can be found...Good hunting all.

Fenced in a 15' x 16' area today for a kid's play area. Used cedar trunks from a couple trees I cut down last week and 30 minute post cement (love that stuff).
How is this considered prepping? Well it gives me a place to put the little ones without worry while I work happily away doing other projects! Meanwhile, the older boys started digging out for the 17 x 10 extension, part of which will be my pantry & preps room. Not as easy as they thought, as there are lots of rocks & roots to get out!

Got a portable gas BBQ on sale $25.00, 3 bottles of propane, did up 15 pounds of sweet potatoe as a bark and started re-doing the whole back yard.

And 2 sheets of bristol board to make signs up for the meet. Traded a few plants for the Bristol board plus it meant less time for me re-doing the back yard.

The 'missus' picked up some food grade containers from Dairy Queen this week. They still smell like 'DQ goodness' but only cost $3.

First time we bought some, so not sure if that was a good price or not 😆

We finally got to rototiller the garden!! It has been so wet this spring but finally t we got in there and now there calling for rain again this weekend =( i hope there wrong but we are tackling the garden for the next little while. Still have to get seeds though, i am really wanting to learn how to keep seeds and gather. Im going to buy the heirloom seeds and go from there. I have never kept them before so this is something new but i think it something important i really wanna start doing and stock pile (natural) seeds.

Case (12) one pound propane cylinders
1 portable, propane BBQ (for BO or camping)
2 - 6 gallon army style water jugs (slim and stackable if done right)
6 - 1 liter bottles of liquid soap
2 liters of witch hazel (great for skin ailments and acne as well as after sun treatments)
More toilet paper (which ended up being free with my bounty paper towel coupons I scooped in the winter... 40 rolls for FREE 🙂 Second 40 rolls for $3! YAY!!!! for TP lol)

I am going to go back and get more of those water jugs... gonna put some away for my mom and her friends (older ladies who want to prep but, need help with the physical stuff)

It must be the weekend for it. My mom and dad came and helped us rototill the garden. It looks humungous right now - 100 x 60 feet - empty and waiting for plants and seeds. I am feeling just a little bit intimidated by how much work it will be to keep it looking decent...but happy to have the opportunity to grow so much food.
