Still stocking up on first aid and pain killers. Without a car and limited finances, my purchases tend to be smaller and more often. Last weekend at our local farmers market I got a 50 pound bag of potatoes and I got another one today for $18, along with a 50 pound bag of carrots for $7! And a 25 pound bag of beets for pickling. They also had strawberries for sale by the flat for $1 per pound and this afternoon was spent prepping those for freezing. Now I really need to get going on water.

Changed vehicles tires, cleaned up all the gear stored in the vehicles trunks, put the winter stuff away. Started some gardening. Fired up the gen set to make sure it (still) works well. Hooked up the rain barrel now that the snow (and freezing temperatures) is gone. Still reading some prep books (e-books, I really got to get those printed!)

Sound like you plan on staying where you are, so on the water issue, I would look at water storage and depending on your local, a Biomass water filter. This system uses sand and activated charcoal (of which you can make yourself).

Went to the range, I have a lot of work to do on hand gun to get better, will have to look into reloading to keep things cheap. If anyone knows where to buy metric 20 round pinned to 5 FAL mags please let me know. Picked up a neat tool called a Biel tool made by Paratech.

This week I taught my middle child how to respect, handle and fire a .22 rifle.

I went to a great meeting of like-minded folks in Truro. See http://internationalpreppersnetwork.net/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=3471

I also found my new theme song: Corb Lund's Gettin' Down on the mountain.

Have a listen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5uASQgLwaIs

Thanks ranger2012. Yes, at the present time we are planning to stay put in the city, unless forced out for some reason. I want to stay here in our home as long as possible, but will be prepared if we have to GOOD with transpo and BOBs. Thanks for the info. I will look into this filter for sure.

I took out my csa v58 to a farmer's field and finally got to put a few rounds through it. It jammed immediately of course because after I had cleaned it I had not aligned the return mechanism properly...

I then field-stripped it with my thumbnail on the tailgate and realigned the two slots... worked beautifully after that.

Fence is almost done... will keep the long-eared rats out...
Also the missus planted our first batch of vegetables. The tomatoes and peppers are still inside looking out at the unstable AB weather.
