5 8kg bags, 88 pounds of rice. 135 000 calories of the stuff.

I hope you also have some seasoning or fixing of sort, because that seems like food boredom about to happen!

Was there a good deal somewhere?

5 liters of soy sauce in the house, not enough I know but I had stocked up on all kinds of spices the last 6 months, all vacuum sealed. This rice is for stock as dog food. Its a filler in the food I cook for them. I have to make sure I stock for them as well. They care mostly that dear meat is mixed in, not to particular about spices. No good deals, just at its regular price 8.90 a bag.

Peppercorn, I have 5 liters of soy sauce and considered that a fair amount for a few years. Why do you consider 5 liters not being much?

I use and planned on using it for the usual rice, chicken and pork seasoning.

My wife thought I was a bit crazy ( accurate depending on ones outlook 😆 ) when I would come home with good quantities of pepper, garlic powder, chili, cayenne, curry...... I would say, you will want this to spice up deer, turkey, fish, Ground hog, frog legs, squirrel...

I thought more would be required, I know more is required for the total amount of rice I now have stored, maybe a liter per 8kg bag is a reasonable amount for planning purposes. I have never recorded/ measured my consumption of spices for cooking so I could be off a little or a lot.

Thanks, don’t get me wrong, when I rethink your statement, I don’t see any harm in having more soy sauce and was just curious to see if you had any other uses for it that would make five liters a light quantity To have in the inventory. It’s cheap and adds flavor to what may be an otherwise bland meal. Spice on! Wars were fought over spices, so they are important.

Canned 4 dozen jars of strawberry compote.

Extra propane tank.

Gosh, I feel like I’m not prepping much these days. I suppose not spending money isn’t a bad things either.

Freezing of blueberries
More canned good, plastic potatoes 😯 soy sauce, chocolate bars, cereal, pop corn for a fun break day!, getting garage ready for freezers coming this week, turned over the generator and tested garage circuits, misc groceries for racks. Filled up two propane tanks with likely only one more before mid September to do.
Sent some food as well as 24&72 hour bag lists to two longtime friends. Ones in California and told him to make sure he has them in the car, at home and at the cottage. Other guy is eyeing cottages in the laurentians. Apparently they are few and far between 😆 😆 😆 for some very strange reason, city or suburban life isn’t all that appealing! No idea why not, I mean everything is stable, the experts tell us to wash hands and wear some cute tissue on our face and we are good to party.

One good thing for people to note is, expiration dates on new canned goods is often into mid 2022 !

Obtained a small chicken tractor from a friend who gave up on backyard chickens (but now has pigs and beef).

Rotated approx 80L of gas.

Finally picked up the extra chainsaw bars I was supposed to two weeks ago.
All my bars are now 18 inch so that helps with standardized parts. Four more chains,Another box of chain files, spark plugs for every piece of equipment, same for spare oil filters, spare fuses for ATV and truck.

Pearl Barley..have you stored it for a long time? I have put away (vac sealed) large amounts. I have heard differing accounts of how long it can store for?? This is a item I use in lots of my stews, and a major staple in the dog food I make. I vac sealed it but If heat canning would be better I could do that? I have many extra 1/2 gallon jars that I have now found out that I cant use for canning so I could repurpose them for Barley storage if it would give me longer storage life.

Was in the big city Friday...couldnt help myself...11, 8kg bags of rice came home with me, thats something like 300 000 calories for 97 dollars. I cant grow the stuff and it stores forever so...I did the math wrong when labeling that picture it should have said 88 kg of rice or 194 pounds.

To keep storage costs low this rice will stay in the original bags and be placed into a galvanized garbage can. Gorilla tape should seal up the handles area, then expanding foam will be shot into and around the lid gap.
