Watching the TLC show "Extreme Couponing", they've got stockpiles some preppers could only dream of. I've found in Canada that our coupon systems don't tend to work as nicely (read, stuff for free) as the ones in the States. I'm not usually a cross-border shopper, as I prefer to support local stores when I can, but a lot of items come from the states anyways, so why not save a few bucks? I live in Niagara, so I'm about a 15-20min drive to the borders. Anyone have any suggestions on where to start? I'd probably start small, but Border Services is going want some duty eventually!
my wife does cross border shopping alot at sarnia/port huron border. She gets most of her coupons online, and buys a few different papers as soon as she gets there. We have some friends who live in the usa also, and usually once a week gets old papers from them with coupons. She does not walk away with $600 worth of stuff for $60 like the people on the show, but does save enough money to make it worth going once a week. Its a full time job if you want to save like some people from the show. Some prices are really cheap on certain things that makes it worth it, to go even without coupons. She has about a 1.5 hr drive to go shopping, but just by filling up on the cheaper gas covers the extra driving expence, so it worth going but does take experience over time to know were to go for certain things to save big bucks
