I also listened to some of the podcast too so far. It too is worth a listen. I just turn stuff like this on while working and learn as I do other things. I downloaded the program to my Android and would suggest others try this podcast too. Good link Denob.

I like that Jack has a good way of explaining to folks how to balance your prepping to not let it control your everyday life. It is fine to prepare for tragedy and that there are basic steps each of us can do they be self reliant during a time of crisis, but not to let your fear of such an event take over your normal life.

I am less enthused about Monday's show ( the next on the list) as it is mainly gardening and farming. I think that those framers we have here will enjoy many of Jack's insights, especially MrsPrep as Jack talks more of growing things in the warmer south.

Still a great learning tool if folks tire of listening to music! Like listening to audio books, I like the ability to listen to such for short periods, pause them and do something else, and come back to the exact spot later for further listening.

I loved his Rant near the end " Stop. Just stop it. Really, Just stop it. Stop. You are not helping. You are just making us look like idiots. Stop! Just stop". LOL This stuff is my biggest problem when trying to convince people to start making the most basic resiliency choices. When I say ," Food Storage. Because its cheap. Because its easy and because your great grand parents would not understand why you didn't and would be really, really angry with you" what they hear is, "He wants to shoot poor people on welfare, send our kids to school with a machine gun and a copy of The Turner Diaries and take away women's rights to vote and repeal the civil rights act." Why do they hear that? Because there is a lot of "Preppers" that really believe that shit because some survival expert told them so. It really makes my life harder.

Im glad he mentioned Information Bias and should have talked about it more. On another post I talked about conspiracy theory as social manipulator, the Rod Stuart Factor, Odd Fact manipulation and the Self Fulfilling Prophesy. I wanted to finish it by talking about Information Bias. We only see what we want to see and this reinforces what we want to see further...while not seeing the guy saying, "That's stupid Dude. Its really stupid. The reason its stupid is because its so obviously stupid, Stupid." That guy is not part of the conspiracy or a Sheeple.

Now, to confront a bit of the podcasters own Information Bias. On the peak oil subject. He is correct in that people will burn any crap to keep their Ipod running. You all know I am a proponent of The Slow Crash theory. It doesn't suddenly turn into a Mad Max world...but...there are cascading failure points. The 25$ tomato will still be available...but no one can afford to buy it...and that starts cascading failures. Maybe we should start calling it Peak Tomato

The Biggest one that made me shake my head was how this reasonable smart guy that has thought through most of this stuff and called "Bullshit!" so eloquently...could have fallen for the Global Cooling Myth. That one is THE EASIEST of these fantasies to disprove and call Bullshit on. Shear Religious Nonsense.

This goes to show how we can all occasionally be subject to Information Bias. Because of this bias, he cant hear those clearly ignorant subhuman "Greeny Weenies". Oh, Well. No One's perfect. Except Yours Truly. Of course. 😎

It helps to have a good friend in your Survival/Resiliency Group that can turn to you and say , " That's really stupid Dude"

I like your response C5. And I Still enjoyed Jack's podcast too. I'm not enlightened enough to know what the big answers are to global warming, but I am smart enough to see that things are not as they should be regarding catastrophic events that are occurring far more frequently these days. I used to question how the Bible states God will "bring ruin to those ruining the earth" because it used to seem impossible that we could destroy something so vast. Yet nowadays it is easy to accept this fact, yet I still have to wonder how they could know this was possible 2,000 years ago. 😯

I also don't like listening to someone just vent unless they have an logical suggestion as to how to fix that which they rant on about. Jack has lots of suggestions that show he has thought long on the subject before presenting his thoughts to an audience. Even Alex Jones has some good points, but he loses his audience when he displays biased thoughts and blurts inconclusive evidence that destroys his good points in turn. (And Alex totally loses credibility by promoting junk for sale to an audience and then wants you to believe he is still forthright.)

I liked it, on the whole. Kudos for encouraging people to just get off the Left slash Right political train. It's just cheer leading for someone that doesn't care about you. I think the amalgamation of prepping and libertarian politics has been the single greatest disaster in prepping. The very reason it wont continue to grow. Peak Prepping, I call it. Hey, I even agree with some of it occasionally.....but it has absolutely ZERO!!! usefulness in helping you to build systems of resiliency into your life like controlling your own food, water, heat or energy source . ZERO! I correct myself. NEGATIVE OF ZERO...because it waists your time of real, everyday, prepping...and general living. None of which has anything to do with cheering for the red team or the blue team.

I remember someone saying "Even if we made Ron Paul Dictator for Life...it still would not stop the systemic problems from reaching their final conclusions," The damage is already done.

Here are responses to Obama's approach by various reporters. I include this as Jack predicts that Obama's suggested soft approach is intentional as reporters portray him as week when he really has been doing the opposite throughout his term.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5i3PKWCpWE

Jack predicts that this is to pave the road because the next president will be a far more aggressive "president with a spine" supposedly voted for by the people. He does this in a far more sophisticated manner than I just used and you'll have to download his podcast to see for yourself. I haven't found an episode as interesting as the one Denob points out here but this podcast will likely be food for thought for preppers to always at least consider anyways.
