If you want to protect your right to save your own seeds and grow non-GMO food, then this is a must do

Protecting my rights to save my own seeds and grow non gmo food by planting it and saving seeds and sharing those seeds too ! Not something to wait until it is convenient , it needs to be undertaken now .

some food for thought......
Extract from the site below (NaturalNews) A new law proposed by the European Commission would make it illegal to "grow, reproduce or trade" any vegetable seeds that have not been "tested, approved and accepted" by a new EU bureaucracy named the "EU Plant Variety Agency."

It's called the Plant Reproductive Material Law, and it attempts to put the government in charge of virtually all plants and seeds. Home gardeners who grow their own plants from non-regulated seeds would be considered criminals under this law.
If the Eu commission pass this stupid law, then which country will be next?

and a little horror movie....

Hi Susannah, with few modifications and nods to home gardeners, the EU went through with a substantial amount of their desired legislation. See

The legislation really impacts a huge number of seeds that are available and will now be "lost" as the costs for having the seeds certified are going to be out of reach for some smaller companies. Keep your eyes open in Australia and Canada for changes like these to come. We won't be that far behind, I suspect. 🙁

Wow! I am not sure if a march took place near where I live. Perhaps in Toronto. This is the thing that outrages me the most. The fact that the government, at the bidding of big corporations, wants to tell me what I can and cannot eat. They do not have the right to tell me what I can and cannot put into my body and feed my children. Period. And this is something I will fight. I get raw milk, which here is illegal. Apparently soon I can add my garden planting and seed saving to my illegal food activities LOL.

Thanks for this morningcoffee. It is draft law and can be changed without going back to parliament! I may be wrong and please feel free to enlighten me, but I read this to say that large companies like Monsanto will have their crap all over the world and those of us who save and share our own seeds and grow our own food (and share the excess with others) can become criminals if changes to this draft law are implemented behind closed doors at the whim of someone who may be in Monsanto's pocket! At the moment citizens in Europe can save their own seeds (little nod towards home gardeners noted) but any changes DO NOT have to be ratified and therefore can be manipulated by any Gov't at any time.....sh*tty state of affairs if you ask me!

Susannah...it scares me too. There has been so little independent research done on the products put forward by Monsanto and now there is legislation in the US that basically gives them the green light to do whatever they want without any worry about any liability if they are found to have caused deaths or health problems. Once they have their "people" say that the product is "good" for all of us they can just go about their merry way without anything to stop them. One of the scariest facts about gmo products is that they could be either partially or entirely responsible for the demise of the honey bees (at least in North America), and without those little buzzing pollinators we won't have to worry about feeding anyone -- far from their proclamations of being able to "feed the world". Apparently they are guilting farmers into using their products... why wouldn't you use a superior product and feed more people, do you care that there are children starving out there and you could use this seed and save them all?
