Does anyone use a recipe program data base? I want to put all my recipes in one place. I then want to print them off and put them all in large binders.

thanks

index cards in a nice box have worked well for our family. May be handier in the kitchen then a binder.

I'd love to be so organized as to put them in a data base... I doubt I'll ever get there though.

Scrounger, sometimes it's nice to use regular size sheet of paper because some recipe cards are a bit small, and just when you need to flip to the back your hands are all greasy. I've also found it convenient to put them (some of them) in plastic sleeves and have a little alligator type clip to post them at eye level on one of my cupboards while I cook. The plastic sleeve helps protect them from splashes and posting them up at eye level is a real convenience as well as freeing up more space in my cluttered little work area.

Just ordered "Living Cookbook".

Scrounger, I do have them on cards but the box is over flowing. I also have a book case with only cook books in it. I was getting tried of going through more then a dozen preserving books just to find a single recipe to try. This way it should take up a lot less room and save me time in the long run.

I like this idea as well. I have a recipe box and cute recipe cards but I may see if I can find a binder with sleeves the right size for the cards. I've tried to tackle this issue before and got frustrated and put it away! How do you like "Living cookbook" so far?

Well, so far good. I had over 20 cds with recipes on them. I have spent the better part of the day (9 hours) trying to put all of them on a single workbook in subsections before I start moving them all over to the new program. I still have over 200 pages in a word doc to move over to the excel workbook. 😳

In the program you can have multi cook books so I have started to do the set up to break down the recipes into specific groupings, changing the publishing set up and just making sure how it will print is what I will like. The "general" one is 20 pages printed and the other is 14 pages printed.

thanks for asking

btw do you want my cookbooks when I am done putting them on the computer

I took the recipe cards out of my little recipe card box and bought a couple of photo albums at walmart that have 2 to 4 seperate slots per page that the recipe cards fit into perfectly and some other recipes from magazines etc I just folded up picture to the front and stuck in the slots...they are plastic pages that wipe clean afterwards so spills don't ruin your cards. In the event of a fire or emergency where I have to abandon the house I grab my album and head out the door with my other couple of grab items that are handy
