When does a true polar wander become a pole shift? This is not a magnetic pole shift but a shift in the Earth's axis. Many of the observations that we are seeing today could be explained by a true polar wander.

They taught us about this in school and I always wondered. I also heard that the earthquake that caused the Japan tsunami and the Fukushima incident caused the Earth to shift by a degree or more.

Both of those earthquakes caused the rotational axis to tilt a little. Not much be we are talking about the entire mass f the Earth so it is significant.
