Attention Fellow Preppers:
While Denob is waiting to hear back from the higher ups, I though maybe we as a group could start working towards putting together kind of a “how to” spot. The idea is that whoever starts a thread, goes back and edits the first post in the thread with the input information. It is my opinion that people are having a hard time (like I first did) finding a simple answer to a question like what to put in a first aid kit. As a result, the question gets asked several times in several places. NOTHING is wrong with that but I think it would be easier if the info was put forth clearly on a simple thread in one location after the question has been asked.

A couple of us discussed this in length at the Eastern Ottawa meet. More then one person at the meet was generous and brought CD that they had made with information that they have collected and burned on to CDs to share. In all honesty, I have not had a moment to load the CDs to take a look at them.

What do you all think?
Cheers
Oldschool

Ps – see personal skills for an example of what I mean

Are you talking like what Wikipedia does?

More like some way to keep a post updated as it matures. It is not possible to do with the current sequential setup. The current set up works well for conversations. If we wanted to post how to use the board for example how do we keep that post on the main Portal or even the Board index screen?

Oldschool, if you go back to edit the first post it is possible that the original intent may be lost. Taking the skills list as the example if the poster made a second post immediately following the original post called "Updates" the he/she could return and keep the post updated with the new and additional material that comes in. Leaving the original post intact.

What an interesting way of putting it. I was just thinking of an easier way to share the basics

What a great idea

Hello , I have just joined this site and I find that mmost of the items are dated a long time ago.
Seems like nothing newer. 😀 🙂
