I seem to remember someone mentioning to also include a book that was considered the best,
but my searches are coming up empty.

It seems to me if we loose our internet, we will need to have reference books .
How to do all sorts of things .

Is there a recommended book list already on this forum ?

I don't know how to do the link to a topic, do a search for "what books are in your library" and there are a number of books listed there.

Thanks for the direct, boss. There is a HUGE selection of books on the lists. Here's the link I found with the biggest list, for others:

A lot of us really like Back to Basics, turns out, and several of us like "Where there is no doctor" and "Where there is no dentist".
I also have:
Ball canning book
The Complete Guide to Food Preservation
Bread bible and numerous other cookbooks catering to solar ovens, crockpots, camping, grilling, canned foods, all-but-instant mixes (cake doctor, man-can-plan, etc.)
Thayer foraging guides
Audubon regional and wildflower, tree, bird and mammal and field guides for me and the areas to three sides of me
the big green Marine series and non-NCO, NCO and staff series for a fair number of topics
a sizeable and growing permie collection
Pitcairn's pet natural health
"The First-Aid companion for dogs & cats"
"The great goat care book"
Storey's goat, duck, chicken, overall poultry, and rabbit guides
Benson Press "The Health of Goats"
The Pill Book guides for for cats and dogs
Applied Pharmacology for vet techs (textbook)
"Do-It-Yourself Medicine: How to Find and Use the Most Effective Antibiotics, Painkillers, Anesthetics, and Other Miracle Drugs... Without Costly Doctors' Prescriptions Or Hospitals"
several maintenance manuals on small engines, each vehicle, battery circuits, and appliance repair

I'm sure there's more that are themed to preparedness. I also have several binders of important info (applicable drug conversions, common dosages for age and weight and ailments, specific skills or step-by-step instructions that may fade or I never really needed so far) and a holy ton of online stuff I can access with the Kindle and tablet and the USB-plug hard drive. Part of that is the Fox Fire series, which is hit or miss but totally interesting (you can find at least four of them online - if not PM me). I also have a problem passing by a farmer's almanac, especially from times people made notes in them, because I like being able to compare what this year is doing to similar years and how gardens, trees, crops and weather played out with the predictions and similar conditions for my area.
🙂
