[/attachment]Ok I am not sure its 1800hrs, I stopped counting past 1000, I didn't care if it went further, as it done all I asked of it, so could it be 1600hrs?, well maybe, 2000?, its possible. I am estimating it to 1800 hrs problem free over I guess a 4 year period.I ran it hard, ran it through periods of 100 hrs or more with out oil changes, twice what its suposted to do,sometimes I didn't change and just toped the oil up.

As you can see the air filter was smashed off the unit at 1200hrs, due to it falling off the stand it sits on, I just ripped the broken plastic parts off.so its been running without a air filter for 600+hrs. The falls off the stands(4 feet high) while the unit ran, dented in the gas tank, lossened the oil fill plugs and they rattled off a few times so the engine ran dry of oil a few times I also didn't always tighten the oil fill plugs enough so that made for a couple more times running dry of engine oil. The fuel I gave it was a mixed batch of fresh gas and some old, no fuel stabilizer used ever. And its outside left exposed to the elements. The falls ripped the rubber mounts from the engine and generator base, so the engine and alternator were only held to the frame and fuel tank by the gas line...

The other day I could not start it, not surpising after the abuse I give it, usual checks couldn't get it going so I am retiring it for now, likely just need to clean the carb....but for now I will just grab another one to sit in its place. So I know of two people in alberta who bought these unit on my recommendation, and I think 2 more down east when these were 199.00, The price now is 380.00 list and the best sale price I have seen 350.00. Damn good value for the money!! I don't think I will see 199.00 again

Champion brand, the 1500-1200 watt unit, though I think in the USA you also have it called 1800-1500 watt unit, both good, infact same engine, and generator, just a larger cct breaker on one and cosmetic changes.....don't go larger in the champion series or your fuel consumption doubles.

Good to know, at that price point. I have a large 8750 / 7000 but a smaller (and more portable!) unit would be nice. I also want to expand solar stuff as a mean of getting power.

I warned of this in one of my previous posts when I recommended this unit. The pull cord...guaranteed to break before the first oil change...I can set my watch to it....anyway not a big deal, three 8mm bolts hold the pull cord assy on, once removed from the unit you can wrap a good cord onto the spool...or you can do what I did...throw away the pull cord assy, and put a 18mm socket in your cordless drill and you now have a electric start genny...works real slick....Canadian tire on Calgary trail north (23ave) has these on sale for 199.00 ( the genny, not the drill)

I really like starting it this way, the drill spins the engine up to speed instantly
