I have a pretty good size grain mill, its a hand crank and it can have a the power part added to it.. it does the job.. it cost a pretty penny and it will be a powerhouse if I ever need it.. but no the flour is not as nice as what a properly mill can do, I will take robin hood any and all days over what I grind myself.. Even moving the grinds downward, its still a much heavier bread.
I use it when I want a heavy duty whole grain bread.. but I do not "use" it .. Its there for when I need to have it.. but that is just me.. I know other ladies that love their home ground flours..
I received mine from a friend who used it regularly. She upgraded to a power one. I think I used it once quite a long time ago now and sorry can't recall how much cranking is required. Like farmgal, I have it mostly for when I might need it or when I might have some time to play around with it. I don't think it takes long to get a cup of flour.
