Being a moderator on any site is a tough and demanding job. On this site this is particularly true because so many our members are so passionate about the subject of prepping. Maintaining free speech and keeping the discussion going HAS to be balanced by preventing repeated particularly offensive comments, personal attacks and trolling.

This site is growing by the day and now has over 1300 members. Very few people end up being removed from the site, one tenth of one percent of the members. Members are always given the benefit of the doubt. Removal is not an arbitrary act. Every forum has to have rules and terms of use, they are required to ensure the continuation of the forum. There are always those that will disregard policies and they do so at their own peril.

I am positive that I speak for the vast majority on this site when I say that one of the reasons that I am here is because of the good manners, helpfulness and respect shown by its members. Those that seek to deride or bully other members should seek another venue to express themselves.

Our moderator, Denob does a tremendous job. He is both fair and responsible, the perfect qualities for a moderator. Denob you are doing a fantastic job sustaining this forum and fostering its expansion and evolution. Thank you!

I must agree with what ICRCC wrote.
I have not thus far had any negative encounters with the moderator of this site, whom I take it goes by the screen name “Denob,” and hopefully I will not neede to have any over what I write in the future either.
It must be a thankless job moderating a website, especially one such as this where feelings on certain issues can run high. I too thank Denob for keeping an eye open for people that may have a problem keeping their cool when disagreeing with what someone posts.
I have visited numerous other websites, prepping ones as well as ones on sports and a couple others that I follow and not many are like this one. I only stay with those that demand posters treat each other with respect and I have left a few sites for the specific reason that certain posters would rip to whatever degree that they chose any poster that disagreed with them, and also because they were allowed to continually do so.
I enjoy good discussions but hate it when people resort to name calling and other immature means of disparaging others.
Here on the Canadian Preppers site I don’t see very many posters resorting to defaming another preppers character just because their views are different and hopefully that respect continues, which I am sure will help make Denob’s job that much easier.

1300+ members yes. Of which the top 34 or so post 75% of all posts. There are 700+ that have not posted once. So really there are maybe 300 people that actually contribute. It is a personal choice on how moderates and is closed to discussion or improvement. I accept the terms and will keep differing and controversial opinions to PM's. That is my approach from now on. 🙂

Hmmm,
I must have missed a bunch O stuff being away in the Bush and Mine! Hmmm Indeed

Differing is fine, some controversy is fine, outright flamming, slamming, name calling, snickering comments and one upedness are not called for here or anywhere.
I will stand with Denob, beside or in front as is my Nature.

Gavs, some of your posts are excellent, even the ones you deleted, most where fine, intelligent and helpful, so keep up the good work. Now, Like I said, not sure what is going on, and really too tired to search through a whole bunch of posts to find out, tired of Negativity, so will refrane (sp?) from that approach.

ps. on another note, why are all the Canada Geese flying in formation tonight, heading South??? Something else I missed out on??
just had the 3rd flock fly overhead going south. (and boy o boy where they noisy to boot)

Well said all

Denob you are doing a good job. It's way too much work for just one person. I wish I could help. 🙂

WildE...no, you didn't miss much. Just some of that mudslinging and stuff.
Gravelore...this is not a personal choice in moderation. This is not a public place, it is a privately owned site that has acceptable standards of behavior.
Everyone else...thanks for the support.

As I don't catch all the posts, I also missed the mudslinging but I agree with everyone else that being a moderator is alot of work and I thank you for all your hard work!
Hi WildE, glad to hear you are doing well up in the far north!
