Here is another gem and prime example of how poorly prepared for any minimal level of help one will obtain from gov

https://ottawacitizen.com/news/local-news/our-backs-are-up-tornado-relief-agency-hires-security-firm-after-reports-of-looting-in-dunrobin

Think of it for a few seconds. Police can’t even patrol a tiny area for theft...
Two things. Either they don’t care or can’t afford manpower. Either is ridiculous, yet obviously something is in play.

So they hired private force but then stopped! Why? No money or they simply hired must and Jeff security guard service? Again, either reason is crazy to contemplate.

Now it’s a private local citizen group that had to hire private guard force! This in our nations capital and for a small event and actual area. WOW, talk about a pathetic level of support or capacity.

So gov will tell you that they are prepared! Give it a rest. They will be utterly useless and this is a tiny example. Government official trying to lie and spin their pathetic response will sound like that Red Cross response I flagged in earlier note. Duh, well, like .....

People will be more then on their own and it will happen real fast and real severe. Once people know they are on their own, hang onto your tuque because the ride will be a fast one.

So they invoke marshal law and curfews. Cool, where do you think efforts will be? Could it be protecting our leaders, and richer area.and then some valauable infrastructure. Sure as hell won’t be folks in Dunrobin or any other average citizen. If they would, then they would be doing so now under very easy to execute conditions, but they are not! You me and 99% of population are up snot creek without a paddle. Make no mistake, I am no 99% protester etc. VERY, VERY far from it. I am however a professional and can size up reality real fast.

Again, anyone living in the city must have the means to frig out fast and get as far away as they logically can. Any CANADIAN city will be a true mess in any serious disaster and I am not talking about any truly large event. I am talking a simple and very easy to foresee one week power outage affecting an entire city in the winter. If you don’t believe me, re read article and try and explain how the police or even military can keep a city of 1-6 million safe and fed if they can’t handle a simple, tiny, usually law respecting and pretty well off community close to two Months later!

Simply amazing. I am guessing we are so in debt, so screwed up with bureaucracy that we have become a nation of blubbering morons. No other reason then plain incompetence.

Only take away is, our collective efforts we take, are well justified and the more we prep and be honest with ourselves, family and friends, the better off we will be. God help us all

saga continues: i believe most of us on this board try and prepare for some pretty intense situations but guessing there are many who do not wish to go full bore or due to finances or circumstance/ family, business, health.., cant go as fast or as far as they wish.

folks in that small Ottawa tornado are still sucking lemons. red cross aid appears to be finaly trickling in but i haven't heard of any major gov support, condo boards still appear to be sitting on their thumb... and people cant get roofs repaired etc. this in our nations capital, two months later and as winter approaches. Actually already landed with close to 8 inches of snow.

obviously a true nation wide emergency will see zero relief but I wonder if people should for a normal day consider tornado insurance. Sort of a decent prep for average day. Thinking of all the money and time we send on prepping, it would be a real shame if we were saddled with costs of rebuilding our home and preps all on our dime! i am looking into it and will likely take the plunge. either that or gamble that red cross and gov will replace my house and all its contents hahahahahahaha. i think i just bust a gut 😆

to further demonstrate to those who may still think the gov is organized and can handle a disaster. Look at California fires. nasty event and i wont go into whether most of it was preventable. Now, i will say this, the yanks are FAR better prepared then we are in Canada, BY FARRRRRR! yet, the politicians still say they are overwhelmed with this unimaginable disaster! Really dude, "unimaginable"!. I know they are lying and its simply a way of making average citizen believe its a big surprise and there is no blame to be laid at govs feet or expectations for help from the gov. Sadly, people are not being told the truth and its a real shame. Would they change if they were aware they are on their own? likely a few would but majority, just like we witnessed with tornado, didn't even have batteries or a tiny camp stove etc in the homes

They have fires all the time, many cities live on San Andreas fault, they have nuclear power plants, a huge target for terrorists and they had that little event called San Francisco earthquake. they obviously know they are prone to earthquakes because they have some pretty earthquake stringent building codes. Glad in a way that people who are or are considering prepping, get to see what professionals already know and that is, you are on your own!

So prep away and never, ever believe you will get any effective or real help from the gov. In Ottawa, we cant even afford to put a police cruiser in the area to keep theft down. simply a very, very sad reflection on our readiness and financial health of the city, province and nation.

Other take away is what happens way down there, can have a very dramatic impact on us up here.
