To the list (not mine) I would include a chemist, a brewmaster, a distiler, and a teamster/both new and old style.

Oh yes! A brewmaster and a distiler would be, shall we say, more than popular skills. If you look at the skills as useful to a group and then project that to goups trading with other groups it would be invaluable.

Many Knights of old that were knighted by the church were said to have clerical privileges. They were able to Christian children, give last rites to the dying, and to pass on the word of the Lord, when ever possible. :geek:

A bowyer is someone who makes or sells bows. Someone who makes arrows is a fletcher.

Here Here ICRCC! Enough of the historical trades! Cooper? really? Is a SHTF event really going to disintegrate all of the existing metal and plastic barrels in existence? As well as the generators, solar panels, wind mills, copper wire, lightning......... you get the idea. As a skill set I think electrician is a true winner. I'm a general contractor and as a rule don't mess with that trade; I do however recognize the value of it.

If we get hit by a CME/X-5 Flare then an electrician would be worth their weight in gold, knowing how to rewind a generator/alternator or an electrical panel would be tops. Rewiring a vehicle would be a pain.

You take the electrician and I will take the electrical engineer (though harder to come by).

Just some clarification on the subject.

Electrical Engineers design, develop, test, and supervise the manufacture of electrical equipment such as electric motors, lighting, wiring in buildings, power generating utilities, etc. A bachelors degree from an ABET accredited university is required before one can purport to be an Electrical Engineer.

Electricians install, connect, test, and maintain electrical systems. They might work from blueprints created by electrical engineers when they work with electrical systems.
