Good Afternoon

I think that I have been a prepper all of my adult life, however it has always been low keyed. Lately (maybe because of the news and such) it has become more of an urgent process to be prepared for what -- I am not sure. However it is all the same - prepare for the future of you and your loved ones. This sounds simple - however the task is monumental to say the least. That brings me to the reason I have come to this site - as I believe the right group of people working together, can and will accomplish a lot more than one person.

Some of the things I have set up:

- food, water, shelter (portable and not so good permanent)
- personal protection (all types)

and on it goes.

Lets all talk.

I am just doing some research on food storage and trying to find the cheapest solution. I know Mylar bags seem to be the way to go but would like to use them in conjunction with a vacuum sealer and dehydrator. Not sure if Im able to do it? A bit of money up front but a lot of savings on the food itself vs store bought. Also if nothing ever happens ( lets hope not ) I can still eat that food 20 years from now if I so choose!! lol.

Also thinking of getting a crossbow. No heavy rounds, light weight , no permit, no sounds. First Aid kit started

My 2 cents.... a crossbow is great for hunting. Not so much for defence. If you get one get lots of bolts for it. You will lose many. Also an animal hit with one rarely will drop dead on the spot. You don't have the shock injuries that a bullet inflicts. A decent crossbow will cost the same as a Ruger 10-22 and ammo supply.
