We all prep, it's a choice and we do it because we enjoy it. What is your favorite part of prepping? It could be one of the pillars of prepping; shelter, water, food and security. It could be preparing a BOB, BOL, or designing a fool proof escape route. It might be forming or being part of a group. For some people it could be acquiring and storing all those non food items that you will need in a SHTF situation. Of course it could be going to meets or conversing with like minded people on forums like this one. Perhaps it's just the peace of mind knowing that you are prepared for the unexpected. What do you enjoy the most about prepping?
My favorite part has got to be drills. Committing something to muscle memory, practicing something till it becomes a natural movement, knowing the contents and status of my BOB like the back of my hand, and being confident in the knowledge that when SHTF I won't be standing around confused or bewildered.
I enjoy gardening the most, knowing that we can supply our own needs 😀
Prepping also gives me added incentive to learn herbal medicine.
i like the food part, i LOVE gardening, i find a great peace out there, i love my trees, i love the living and growing part of it. i don't eat meat, or dead things so live food is what keeps me living. ya'll likely laugh at me, but i really feel a connections to plants and the living earth, nature is the living form of spirit. . .
beyond that i love my guns lol, but really i do. i shoot office supplies and playing cards but i love the sport of it. i usually do it alone and i find peace there too.
i also love the fellowship, i'll be taking another vacation to spend time with my mentor friend in Tn this year. there is nothing like sitting up on his mountain, watching the sun come up over the the other ridge, the wind, the smell, the beauty of nature. . . the conversation, the prep activities, then a great meal (his wife can cook like anyone's business) then sitting on that porch again, watching the moon cross the sky. . . oh and i can't forget the office supplies we blow the hell out of . . . nature, food and guns. (i'm a complicated guy i guess!)
adsum. . . aut viam inveniam aut faciam

I laugh at DH heaps about blowing holes in pieces of paper when he comes in with a big grin saying "Look how small the group is" 😆
Kind of nice having someone around that can shoot well though, he shoots in A Grade competitions and does pretty damn well.
It started out with search and rescue, learning new skills being part of a tight nit group volunteering to help others in distress..
Then it it would be getting to go and by and build some pretty cool toys and out door gear, rigging up the jeep for bugging out, and in the event we were to get called to some huge calamity of a disaster knowing we have a turn key operation with the jeep to attend any disaster and be self sufficient if need be...And that we can bug out with it and survive just about anything any were..[ with in reason].....Then it would be what I have learned in life and management and my travels around north America and using it to organizing our Alberta meetings, and then taking what I have learned with search and rescue and Alberta emergency services and all the other training I get, and sharing it bit by bit with people in our group...And the end result so far is knowing we [ I ] my wife and I, have a plan,and will have friendly familiar faces to meet up with....and have some sort of saftey in numbers to try and survive what gets thrown at us in a S.H.T.F. World.....
Better to have it and not need it; then to need it and not have it...
I suppose I love the food storage the most of actual skills but my favorite part is the peace I have knowing we will be able to manage for a time without help. I love the feeling of self sufficiency. There's still so much more to learn and do but I enjoy the journey too.

My favourite part of prepping is the fact that we're still in the prepping stage. 😆

I'll go with KNOWING I won't be in the same boat as devoted Gerry Springer/Survivor/American Idol/Game Boy/boob tube celebrity worship, know nothing fans.
There is a plan in place, I doubt it's perfect but am sure that it is far better than a series of know nothing panic decisions.
I doubt that 2% of people will be better off than me in a SHTF scenario.
That is mental comfort IMO.
Than= I’d rather be rich than poor.
Then= I first became hungry then I ate.
There = She is there now.
Their = They have their things.
They're = They're going to the mall.
To = They came to the house.
Too = That's too bad.

Welcome VeraKeisey and greetings from Northern Ontario.
I think my favourite part of prepping is the security. I know how to handle a bad situation which helps me sleep better at night.
My other favourite part is thinking up the most likely scenarios that would require prepping, or debunking the ones that don't (in my mind anyway). I might have a wild imagination so it helps me to put things in perspective when I consider the odds of likely and unlikely events in my area.
If your home library contains more volumes about survival-related topics than your local public library, you might be a prepper.
After reading this post a couple of days back, I have come to realize that my interests and activities around "Prepping" create a number of newly discovered and "taking out of the closet" type of activities that I used to do and enjoy doing with my father and brothers, as well as mom and my sisters. I lead by saying my father and brothers because of the things we did together, camping, fishing, hikeing, skiing and when I was ten, learning to shoot and eventually going hunting with all of my brothers, cousins, uncles etc. So, now that I find that I am much more actively involved in those types of activities with my son and my youngest daughter. We enjoy all different types of out door activities, hiking, biking, scuba diving, fishing, crabbing, shooting and camping. We have actually moved beyond the standard camping into a somewhat more (mildly) extreme camping, rather than the usual summer vacation camping at a Provincial camp site. We are currently planning a "winter camping trip" in the Northern part of BC, about 500 feet above the usual snow line, and hope to do at least another additional 3 such trips before we leave and after our return from a trip out of the country. I am also teaching my son to shoot and my daughter is taking an Archery course at my home range.
My wife I started home canning last year, and while it's quite a lot of work, the results are very, very enjoyable, peaches, pears, cherries, oranges, salsas, pickles, tomato, sauces, jerky, etc..anyways an activity that we all as a family participate in and enjoy. Drives to the Okanagon to buy fruits and veggies combined with boating are really wonderful ways that are part of our prepping and enjoying time as a family.
In repect to our prepping and activities, when camping we try out SHTF supplies from MRE's and Mountain House single/double serving packages, our different stoves, volcano, smokeless fire cans, wet fire, storm matches, propane stoves and a new 3 fuel stove that for the moment I cannot remember the brand. We also spend time traveling through the woods "playing army" and set snares forvsmall game that we cook and eat.
So, in summary we blend a lot of our prepping into our normal daily activities, to be honest if we couldn't enjoy or make play and have fun with our prepping, I'm not sure we would be as far along in our prepping as we are. The favorite part of prepping to be honest is pretty much all of it.
