Not sure there would be a point in hitting said button. People are not going to listen to anyone other then 1) those they trust 2) someone in authority. Since the authorities use lies or misinformation, and most trustworthy friends/family are equally misinformed, then people like us can only trust our own rational minds. It seems that most humans are trained to respond in an apathetic way, even when the evidence of danger is obvious. I feel sad for such people, but they are what they choose to be. They are told we are the paranoid and irrational ones, which is ironic.
I have tried educating friends and family about some of the going ons in the world outside of the normal news media, and generally their response is cynical and negative even when the unspoken news comes from reliable sources. I have seen it during disasters I have been in as well. Denial is an emotional state that most people call upon to confront their fears, even in the face of obvious rational evidence that what is happening is true.
Just found this website. Glad to see there is a community of Preppers in Nova Scotia. I was beginning to wonder if I was the only one with any common sense out there.

I hear you Green vibe 😉 My spouse is finally acknowledging everything doesn't hit the mainstream media - sometimes for a reason and what we the public are told isn't necessarily true either. It's nice to see independent thinker spread their wings and search for the truth. Sometimes we swap info. My info tends to bore her, I focus more on economics for the obvious reason.

From what I've experienced people don't want to see what's coming down the line. It might mean they have to change teir lives... I'm glad the sheeple are so cozy in their ignorance.
The article gives only part of the reason.
The problem is that heavy borrowing and spending took place across the board (i.e., not just government but also households and corporations), starting in 1981 and thanks to deregulation (because the government essentially works for Wall Street), leading to incredible levels of debt for all sectors.
Also, it's not mentioned that a lot of oil is consumed, and crude oil production peaked in 2005. At the same time, oil demand is growing worldwide because of a growing middle class.
Finally, the military is used to keep the petro-dollar propped up (with private corporations profiting), but more are now distrustful of the U.S. and want to move away from the dollar. Meanwhile, the heavily-funded military with police are now slowly turning on the U.S. population.
