I agree, silencers would be nice for noise. I am mainly surrounded by farms but there are some homes half a mile away and then there are those who walk on the roads. Much prefer to not disturb them or ever hear any comments or complaints. no issues yet but a hunting neighbour of mine had a lady complain to him. With covid and riots in the US, I am expecting some city idiot to complain, it’s just a matter of time now.
Silencers were to my knowledge banned by hysterical city people for same reason as scary black guns are today. Movies of gangsters shooting people with no noise... no rational reason but one has a snowballs chance in hell of ever getting them approved up here these days! All I would want to do is be mindful of noise but we can’t be rational, can we! True shame
Its funny in England and in other European counties, you would be fined if you hunt certain time and places without one. Its kind of crazy how often I have been hearing Rifle Fire in my neck of the woods.. in all directions.
I mean on a good day I can hear the local range in the forest so that is normal.. and we have two folks down the holler that hunt year round.. and love to pop off rounds.. and turkey season was busy but this.. this is above normal amounts.. I can in a single day in my gardens most likely here at a min.. 3 different rifles or shotguns in different directions..
Now that is pretty standard on weekends but not week days... Granted I can't say much, I am gun training my pup (who is doing great by the way) so I guess the farms around me are like hmmm too.. lol

I am experiencing the opposite of FG with target practice or hunting going on. It was and is near dead silent. Even turkey season was quite. While out getting the two biggest toms I ever shot, I hardly heard a shot, very odd. There seems to be a lot of strange things going on and I can’t fully square the circle on all of it. This Covid thing is a real interesting event to study
For quiet, with a 22, and being legal, the BRNO model 4 , with a 28 inch long bull barrel is the ticket. With sub sonic ammo there is very little noise due to that long barrel. It also reduces the noise from full power 22 loads as well, again thanks to that long barrel. These were common rifles back in the 80s on used gun racks.Dont know if they are still common, but I remember buying a pair of them for 250.00 each back then. That was a lot of money back then( 500), a months rent for two bedroom apartment in a nice hi rise. I don't think I have ever shot any 22 with a longer barrel than 28 inches.

Just went looking for any for sale and all I could find were a couple on U.S. sites.

700 to 800 US in the states, so over 1000.00 Canadian now.
Edit.. I just looked over mine, I have never even fired one of them, its stamped 57 on the barrel but in mint condition, as new condition. I could get top dollar for one of these.
