Unfortunately Australia has no 2nd amendment so guns are VERY hard to obtain! 🙁 SUCKS! 🙁

Not really - just have no criminal conviction - complete a pre-license saftey course, join a sports club (S.S.A.A), or have two land holders sign a paper saying you have permission to shoot there (could be just 1 for that - I forget exactly which now).

Have approved storage - this varies from state to state - so youd need to check which is yours. Get ID, fill application and submit form, and wait for process to happen.

Thats pretty much it.

Once approved - away you go.

For the cost involved - I think it's more revenue raising exercise than firearms control.

FNQ'er-1,

Seems to be a popular tactic of the governments, raise tax income, not make things better or safer.

If you are a member of a sporting gun club, you can get a license and a gun (suitable for your chosen sport) providing (as FNQ'er pointed out) that you do not have a criminal record. Most regions have sporting clubs (footy, netball, rifle/pistol/shotgun etc) so do some research once you know what you want......I will try before I buy at the local gun club.

Said about the firearms act in Canada:
"C-68 has little to do with gun control or crime control, but it is the first step necessary to begin the social re-engineering of Canada."

Trouble is it is a hassel for H/Guns.
Need special license, special gun safe, regular inspections - just further revenue being raised for the legit weapons owner.
You can still get any thing you want through unofficial channels.
the tougher laws have not stopp-ed that trade.

Sounds a bit like a particular "family" plus acquaintances here in good ol Vic. 😉

Could be - at one point in time I spent a lot of time in Sydney - there was nothing that was put in the 'too hard basket' - 'ever'!!!
I think it was the staging point for S/E Asia or at least a transfer point.

Please acquire your firearms legally.
The more legal owners the more political clout we have. Politicians look at statistics, voter numbers.

The opposite would apply with illegal guns.
There's far more chance of jack booted thugs at your door than no rule of law at all.

I agree legal ownership totally, we should all be legal - what I was saying is that there is a huge trade out there in illegal weaponry - I don't see how you could see my post as any other way.
That is the way of the world - like the drug war - they gave up on that and have conceeded defeat - does me posting this condone the use of drugs - NO it doesn't!

I am merely stating the facts as I know them to be.
Or perhaps there is no illegal trade of weapons in Canada??
