I'm moving into an area of prepping that is completely new for me and that is protection, i.e. weapons. If society falls apart, I want to be able to protect myself and my home, so I'm hoping to learn more about appropriate weapons in Canada. I know we're not like the US, where you can wander down to Walmart and buy yourself pretty much any kind of weapon you want! I'm interested in learning more from people here about what is legal (for, say, guns, knives, other weapons) and what is illegal. What am I allowed to have in my home? What am I allowed to carry with me? What do I need to know about storing weapons at home? Any help/advice you have is greatly appreciated. I'm not looking to build a massive arsenal, just to get 1 or 2 items, just in case society does completely break down.

They are called 'firearms' not 'weapons'!

If I can't hunt & fish in heaven then I don't want to go!

Hunting and of course the certification process that permits you to buy or possess firearms courses do exist. Thanked them. Ask the instructor or others in the class where to go to learn more etc. Be very, very wary of rambos or jerks.

well you can get specific legal insurance if you are involved in a firearms incident. You can get the legal advice level which means you can call up and ask if its legal to store 30 lbs of various sorts of gunpowder in a abode then they can answer specifics if you are in a stand alone dwelling vs an apartment. then theres the all out level where they will help you if a overzealous Member of the striped pants brigade decides you are not following the law by having a pistol mag in an AR 15 10 rounds shot vs 5 round pinned mag. You know like the RCMP deciding that they interpret a law like this but the law doesnt say that. It was these type of lawyers that got the CZ858 off the prohib status. They will also help you if you are involved with a firearms incident and the crown decides to charge you .
