the metla printer is pretty cool, the use an electron beam to melt and fuse the metal. Essentially it is a welded part but with high accuracy.

FYI, heard today that someone 3d printed a plastic M16/AR15, that is a little more scary for me. Take one of those one a plane and there would be serious issues.
