I really had to look for that one. Not very well advertised and I'm sure if you go to Cabelas or some small Ma and Pa gun shops, they probably still have those for sale. I've seen some 10/22 "pistols" down south, but that really isn't a weapon gang bangers would try to put their paws on for their dirty deeds. Actually, I wonder how many of those "pistols" have found ownership in Canada and led to the demise of the popular 25 rounds mags.
Guess I'll be doing some pinning before I take those mags out to the range / gopher hunting.
CSSA and CSAAA are launching a law suit. Mr. Burley, lawyer for CSSA is advising people not to use, dispose of, alter or modify, or transport magazines that hold more than 10 rounds. There is info on the CSSA website. If you have magazines over 10 rounds the CSSA could use some information from you.
As I understand the posted bulletin in this thread, providing you are not committing another crime, RCMP officers are advised to give a 30 day period to allow persons found with over capacity magazines time to pin them.
I went to my local Cabelas today and all the 10/22 magazines with a capacity over 10 rounds were gone. I didn't ask if they pulled them off the shelf or if they were sold out. I want to start a 10/22 build and probably would have bought one or two 25 round magazines to be pinned later if required. Now I guess I will have to wait to see the outcome.
I actually like my takedown a great deal. It's reliable, goes together very quickly...and most important? It doesn't look like a gun when it's being transported. It draws significantly less attention...once the bright red RUGER logo is removed.
An outstanding gun. Keep in mind that .22 ammo is both cheap and LIGHT. You can easily carry 500 rounds of at a weight comparable to 50 rounds of heavier ammo -- a significant difference if you should ever need to be on the move. Of course it is a significantly less powerful round...but can get the job done as long as you know how to use your weapon properly.
