Has anyone heard about the benefits of drinking alkaline water verses acid water which apparently is how things have shifted over the past 25 years because of our diet. I heard that by alkalining our system can help minimize illness and the possibility of airborne viruses surviving in us. I'm still out to lunch on this and need to do more research but if anyone has information on this topic, I'd like to hear from you.

I'm posting this, thinking outside the box on possibly one of many ways to help keep my family healthy if SHTF, economy collapses, medicare disappears. Thanks to all everyone in advance for responding.

I have no knowledge about alkaline water, however there are numerous benefits to eating alkaline food if you suffer from pain and inflammation of joints, lowered immune system and lack of energy. My understanding is that you need a balance of 70% alkaline food and 30% acid food to function well. Lots of water, moderate exercise and plenty of rest/sleep.

I also have no knowledge in this area... BUT...LOL... The fact that there is NO available research information related to medical or University Diet studies tells you something. The body functions at a set ph and has a number of mechanisms to maintain this level REGARDLESS of diet. If you alkalize the body it will attempt to acidfy itself to balance. Ditto with acidification. The rub is that IF for some reason the body can't compensate for excess of either you WILL DIE. I have seen it happen. An example is an overdose of ASA or tricyclic antidepressants. Too high levels of either of these medications will kill you. Period. I think the whole premise is hokum... just my 2 cents.

Request - please have a look at the foods listed in the chart (Red & dark yellow=highly acidic, pale yellow & pale green=neutral range, greens at the other end=alkaline) Think about your diet....which foods do you actually eat more of?

A lot of our problems begin in the gastrointestinal tract therefore they are related to diet ie not enough fibre (and nutrients) from whole grains, fruit and vegetables. Maintaining a healthy gut can be achieved by the correct balance of both alkaline and acidic foods. The articles that I posted earlier are somewhat biased towards more alkaline food choices, but since when do we eat what we are told is "good for us". Lots of fibre is good for us and a lot of alkaline/neutral foods are just that...fibre. Just my penny in for consideration because I'm not an expert.

The body does try and maintain it's pH balance and it does this by taking what it needs from other organ systems. This leads to other health issues and, as you stated, can lead to death if the body is unable to maintain homeostasis.....this is why it is imperative that we eat properly.

Afterthought: If you have a look at the items on the chart from my previous post you will see that some of the food choices in the "acidic" range are just crap (no nutritional value for the body) but really, apart from meat/fish etc, there aren't that many acidic foods. I'm not advocating eating just alkaline foods (that would be stupid) but I do think that we need to eat a more balanced diet to avoid complications from "elimination problems" at least. Remove the crap from your diet and you'll probably find that you are eating what you should be eating anyway. That's all I was trying to say in my first post, so I hope I haven't caused any offence replying again.

as far as i have read alkaline water itself has no benefits by being ionized however there are some proof that due to the presence of an antioxidant in alakaline water called negative hydrogen ion. all the benefits claimed so far is due to this antioxidant and independent researches has proved that this antioxidant is actually beneficial for health.
Other than that there is no solid proof of any alkaline water benefits ...even the chinese government has declared it a scam...isn't it an irony btw 😀
