Is there such a thing as a single handed band-aid dispenser where you do not have to remove a wrapper? I had a wee accident today and trying to get band-aids out of the wrapper nearly did me in. I ended up cutting the paper off the band-aid as I could not get the thing out with one hand.

When it's fresh and bleeding a lot I don't waste time with a band-aid. Wrap a paper towel around as tight as you can to stop the bleeding. Follow up with some tape to hold it. Whatever is handy, duct tape, scotch tape or an elastic band- anything to keep the pressure on. After a while I'll carefully get a bandage ready with plenty of time to be careful.

Thank you

I went through 4 paper towels and one tea towel before I tried to put a band-aid on it. I can't put any pressure on it as the nail is only hanging on by the cuticle. The end of my finger "popped" like a watermelon thrown to the ground

Now I can't get the band-aids off as every time I try the pain nearly puts me to the floor.

Ouch, ouch, ouch.
Maybe stay with the paper towel. The glue on the bandaids always makes my cuts open up when I try to get em off.

I spent most of the day at the hospital waiting for help.

What did you DO to yourself??

When it's that bad, skip the bandaid, use gauze and tape. (Easy to apply, easy to soak and cut off later if necessary). Also when it's stopped bleeding, superglue is a great thing to use to hold skin and nails back in place (however a word of caution: be sure to glue only what you want glued 😯 ).

Hospitals are such a hassle, glad I've some medical training as I tend to avoid mass healthcare at all costs.

Must have been a doozy accident you had oldschool... may you heal well.
