We are new to the forum. We live approvimately an hour and a half west of Edmonton. Just a normal, everyday couple with 2 grown children. I've been a prepper since I was a little boy in Enlgand, just didn't know thats what it was. We would like to meet other like minded folks to share ideas with. We live in a fairly secluded area on about 130 acres. I am a member of our town's emergency services. My wife and I both run our own businesses. 😎
Morning Mercian. I too am new to the site and not found it to be snarky like some sites I've visited. Nor is it full of [in my eyes] un-need stuff like fending off zombies LOL I've been running through new and old posts and found lots of valuable info. Hope you enjoy.
Thank you Beth and Pegelg, So what do you think of the humidity Beth, I lived most of my younger life in London Ontario, great city. Pegelg I have been looking at some of the links from this site too, lots of good information. I started this hobbie back in the seveties, my old scout master was a Sargent in the Brittish army and he ran the troup just like the army with some great volunteers to look after us like surigate mothers. He would teach us general bush craft, map and compass, orienteering in teams of two's, rock climbing, repelling, list is just too long. But at the time, it was all good fun! Now as I grow older and think back to how a core of us young guys would go out on our own and hike across the moors and other great adventures, its sad that you couldn't do that kind of thing today as a 12 or 13 year old. I think we started talking about survial when a T.V. show came out called "Suvivors". You can still buy it on dvd from ebay. We would live out in the bush playing at suvival, it was a fun time through our school summer holidays. Now after years of reading books like Deep Winter, Patriots and other more educational books like Mel Tappan's "Tappen on Survival", we just trundal along doing a little bit each year. I think working in emegancy services, I see how your life can change in the blink of an eye and you should always have some kind of back up, particuly if you have no famly close by. I also like yankee prepper on you tube hes always good for a laf 😆 and interesting ideas. I guess I better shut up before I write a book.
oh the humidity is ok, the last couple of years didn't seem to be to bad. I just head to the basement to cool down.
