Just wanted to pop in and say hello! I am almost ready to come out of my prepping closet, haven't done much but hoping to learn a lot from others' experiences.

I think my main issue is that my family will think I'm crazy. I have a sister who's on board, but I"m afraid my husband will think I've gone absolutely batty. I don't feel right about NOT prepping though. Maybe I could get some newbie advice on brokering the topic with my DH?

Welcome highvibes! Just start with the simple stuff - preparing for everyday emergencies - you can get crazy after that 🙂

Welcome Highvibes and greetings from Northern Ontario.

One way to introduce what you would like to do is the insurance approach. You have car insurance and you have house insurance. You don't expect to be in an accident and you don't expect to have a house fire however you still carry insurance just in case. What if for some reason, any reason you could not get to the store for a couple of weeks? Wouldn't it be good insurance to have a couple of weeks supplies on hand just in case?

Hello highvibes
Welcome!
And from one "Newbee" to another...Do it slowly... it took a couple of power failures, since moving here last summer, to convince my Wife that we should be prepaired for anything.

look in the BC section, there were two women, who posted a lot who got their husbands on board with Prepping

I tell people to say, watched the news and they said to stock up incase of another winter storm.. then go from there
