Hi all
im already pretty well prepped having lived rural in eastern ontario for the last 10 years i noticed there is no transportation section here.

This infomation may of interest to the members:

I run a specialist Land Rover business called www.globalbritish.com i import diesel land rover Defenders & also hand build them up from galvanized chassis's so can work with the 15yr Canada & 25yr USA rules along with importing LPG/Propane kits to convert any injected car or truck to start on gas then switch to propane (Stops Freezing) OR just start on propane - with the fact that storing gas is a risky issue and ages off it is easy to store up 20lb bbq cylinders that can be strapped in the trunk & can be proliferated in times of foraging that can provide roughly equivelant of 100 mile range per cylinder dependant on engine size.

All the Land Rover defenders are EMP pulse free as well as able to run on bio-diesel/furnace/farm/vegatable oils and also a 30% propane induction as do the euro truckers do to save fuel.

I also produce duel altenator conversions along with Optima batteries, ARB air locker installs and can litrelly build a truck to your own specs with window grills extended chassis even PTO units front & rear to enable using a farm genset or driving threshers & log splitters - anything that is on a farm will fit a Land Rover PTO - remember these trucks were designed for 3rd world farmers despite not being brought into North America they are still produced in the UK and we are able to import them in parts and reassemble and convert to LHD.

Seeing your forum made me realize that there are a lot of people thinking about bugging out and also homesteading that what i do for a living might be of relevant interest to the folks here

Cheers

Dom

Hey winstonsmith,

You are absolutely right, a Transportation section is totally needed.

I am impressed by your post, wish I could offer some expertise, but I gave up my van to free up my money. I live in the city, have to buy a bus pass for work anyway, no parking at work.

Even so, if you get a thread going I will check in to see how things are going.

Land Rover Defender is an excellent vehicle for exploration purposes which can compete with Ford Explorer since rover parts have high endurance.
