Hello,

I finally registered myself to the forum but ive been reading on here off and on for a little while now and finally thought I should say hi. My name Is Tiffany and I am married with 3 young children which we home school. I am a full time mom and a Shelf Reliance consultant. I have been doing food storage mainly for the last few years but recently have expanded more into the full `prepping` mode.

I am hoping to meet a few other because i am the only one other then my mother in law that i know who do anything of this sorts. It has become a huge `hobby`of fine and my friends done seem to understand and are very stand offish abut it, it seems and I have just been wanting to talk and learn and share with others who have similar interests. I have been feeling a bit alone when it comes to something that is a very big part of my life. Even though i do try daily to get my friends to understand or even start. Which i am slowly making a dent! yay. =P

I am so excited to finally be joined up and cannot wait to meet some of you!

Hi Dandyprat. Glad you could make it. It took me a while too come out of isolation. I finally concluded that the only opinion that matters about the path that I choose is my opinion...and my family still thinks I'm a little 'off. The only difference now is I'm doing what I've always wanted. We are over here on the Sunshine Coast. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks everyone!
Ya @heathenwench I have finally come to the same conclusion and i even feel a little more determined now that i have come out of the closet, i guess you can say. Then even the other day i was at a friends having dinner and they were talking about one collects owls and so on and i said right now that I collect food and they didnt even really think its weird. One said that it is smart. but of course they never want to get into it themselves, but i wish they would.
I have also noticed there are a few islanders here @wookie. Maybe because of the constant earthquake scares lol which is #2 on my list i do prep for 😉 The funny thing is I only know of 2 in person. seems to be lots on here though!

Hi, Dandyprat !
Great to see another someone from the Island. I'm down here in LaLa land, aka Victoria.
I know lots of people irl that prep for an earthquake (or THE earthquake), mostly people with kids. Mine are grown up now, hopefully I taught them a few things over the years. 😕
I also know a few people that scoff at the concept of prepping or survivaling, but in actuality they do stock up on all the useful stuff. Funny, eh?
The ones that annoy me the most are the ones that say "we're all going to die anyway." And I say, "maybe... but if I survive I'm going to be really pissed if I didn't have anything put aside, even if I have to dig it out of the rubble."

Hello Vaniselemom,

ya there seems to be a few islanders here! I'm in the comox valley area =)
There are quiet a few who worry about a earthquake but its better to be safe then sorry! I agree with your if we did make it threw it i'd also be pissed off i did have anything set aside. Probably a few of the preppers going " i told ya so" =P lol
I do have a few friends that are also very stuck up about even just the concept of a food storage period but i am youngish and my friends are still more worried about where they are getting there next pair of shoes. I'd just rather collect food! I do work for a home party business selling food storage food and i can barley get some of my friends to host a party for me, so it's hard when you don't have some support sometimes. I am trying to get them to change there point of view and have come through on a few! None of them are acting on it though =/ I even entered the preparedness pro prepper outreach contest to get it out there ( it ends tomorrow if anyone wants to vote for me! http://preparednesspro.com/peace-of-mind-its-simple/ ) lol so im working on spreading the word too!

I have only met one other prepper. She was working for a supplier and she was doing a poll one day after the last 'tremor' and I was the only one that had a 72 hr kit! I didn't share with her the extent of my preparations. I live up the road in Campbell River and I don't talk about my 'insurance plan' with anyone. Too red here! People would rather spend they're money on trucks/quads ect.
I do know of a friend of a friend that is a prepper, but really stockpiling guns/ammo.

Hey if earthquake is #2, then what is #1??????? Zombie redneck hoards from up the road!

oh neat ya your not far then, which is cool!
Ya lots of people are not prepared at all! but more and more i see are wanting to because with my job (with shelf reliance) a lot of my customers look at the website and at lease 75% of them say they want the emergency supplies but we don't get to sell them yet but food. So i see a lot more people asking which is a good sign!
With me i share a bit because of my job and i like to lead by example but I don't give away specific's because if the %&%$ does hit the fan, I dont need everyone lining up but I do try and get the word out and help people start at min. a 3 month food supply =) And guns and ammo are good! lol

and my #1 is actually financial collapse and inflation etc... as they put it. Zombie redneck hoards might be possible! My hubby will be very happy if i tell him to start stalking up on more guns and ammo too! =P (i think that would be any mans dream words to hear from his wife though) lmao

and thanks for the vote!! Its a huge contest and Kellene wanted to show that not all preppers are crazy because she though the doomsday preppers show was not helping at all lol I wanted to show that you can start young!

I forgot to mention everyone can vote up to 5 times 😉

I am voting once only and it is here and now,
you sound normal, remind me of the old time Preppers, they were just called normal people when I was young, everyone had supplies to weather out storms.
Everyone had a little something extra tucked away, just normal people normal times.
