Just got word of a few Safeways closing. Since when do grocery stores not have enough business? Not to mention people here are really needing work,so no shortage of workers wanting employment. What hell is going on? What's next gas stations and clothing stores? Just my two cents

Who are we, as mere mortals, to question the function of the corporate world? 😕

Not so much as questioning the corporate world as wondering if this is how it all starts. Shutting down food markets, driving up the cost of food, creating food shortages. They need to start "small" to see how it goes for us little folk.

I think it is sometimes easy to read too much into things that happen. There have always been store closures and consolidations. So many stores operate by different names under the same parent company. Many times they will close one store and open something else and in that way can negate contracts they have had with employees and suppliers to renegotiate beneficial new contracts. In doing a bit of research it would seem that the property is not owned by Safeway and the owner is making some changes that do not include continuing with a Safeway in that plaza any longer. I am talking of the Marpole store in Vancouver BC. Sor it would seem not a plot... but a change in direction by the owner of the property.

Well good to hear. As I'm not done preparing yet. On the lighter side I'm always up for good deals so they have less to move.

I always look on the bright side. It may not be worse, it may be better. We will have to wait and see.
