Hello from Victoria, Vancouver Island. Long time prepper, not so good at getting interactive with this website. (I'm sure it's just me.) I live in an apartment style condo, not much space, but I have always stored water and extra food and paper goods (never, ever run out of toilet paper). After the 9.0 in Japan I really got serious about my preparations, made Go Bags for my 2 adult children and myself, made sure the cat carrier had water and food under his sleeping pad. Then, I went out and got a 133 litre garbage can on wheels to store yet more stuff: wool blankets, tent & tarp, crank radio, sterno, kettle, axe, pry bar, sierra saw, t.p., plastic bags, more 'food' (instant, keep ya alive crap) and lots more stuff deemed necessary. I've secured all the bookcases and pictures to the walls and even put baby proof bands on my fridge/freezer (an improvement over the duct tape I hastily put on one night after looking at the USGS earthquake site). I consider myself one of the working poor, so everything has been bought from dollar stores, wal-mart or scrounged. I started searching the internet for emergency preparedness info, seeing if there was more I should/could do. Today I found the Utah preppers site, which is great, and it led me to this Canadian site, which I am very happy to see. Hope to see more Vancouver Island preppers.
Welcome to the forum vanislemom. Sounds like you had a major awakening. It's great to see another prepper getting ready for the what if. There is also a blog site at
http://www.canadianpreppersnetwork.com/
I try to get a post up almost everyday and we have some really down to earth contributors as well. Hope to see you around often.
Welcome Vanislemom, I live in the suburbs outside of Vancouver. Sounds like you've earthquake proofed your home well, it's hard to imagine what an earthquake would be like. Seeing pictures and video is one thing but actually going through it is another.

Hope to see more Vancouver Island preppers.
well, since you mentioned,
HI! I'm in South Langford and far enough up hill not to worry about a tsunami...
I figure an earthquake is the only thing that will take out our whole region so that is my focus too, although I did buy some potassium iodate last year in case of trouble in Seattle's plants.
🙂
