Three flood events in 6 years is beginning to border on the freaking ridiculous.

Flood forecast heightened, with the potential for this year to be the second worst flood in the last 50 years. (1997 being the one that tops it) Based on existing flood defences, none of the larger communities face evacuation as all flood defences where upgraded deal with 1997 or greater flood levels. Once things get up and moving, flooding could start as early as this weekend, with a projected crest in Winnipeg of the second to third week in May, better than a full month past our 'normal' flood peak.

Here's the most recent Flood update;

General Flood information from the provice;

And local highway information. The flood hasn't really taken off yet, but once it gets moving keep watch for closed roads.

Based on previous floods, I should be fine. Part of this community and the entire area around me will in trouble again though. No matter how many times floods hit us they just don't seem to learn. The defenses get slighty better each time, but they still continue to build on flood plains then whine and cry for help when the floods hit.

Its enough to make you shake your head.
