OK, I really, really, really don't do this often, but something about this makes me somewhat believe that this could be a legitimate opportunity.
The following is an email I received today...

Hi there,

I am a producer with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation here in Winnipeg.

We would like to talk to someone from the Canadian Preppers Network (or perhaps ideally someone from the Manitoba chapter) re: emergency preparedness kits as we enter tornado season.

Obviously this is a story borne out of the Oklahoma tornado yesterday, and what a deadly reminder this is to us.

Is it possible to talk to someone about this?

If anyone is interested, just let me know and I will put you in touch.
Thanks

Go for it. People will see that we're not the Doomsday Prepper they think!

Thanks for posting but I perfer to stay low key. I've seen first hand how poorly prepared people are around me and any prepper who makes themselves too public is going to have hoards showing up in a SHTF situation looking for a handout.

Keep us posted if anyone is brave enough to do the interview. I'd be interested in reading CBC's spin on it. If its anything like CBC's "The Current" story on preppers in Canada you expect them to spin in the giggle factor.

I guess I wasn't quick enough...they got a professor from the University of Manitoba...
He gave a few OK tips, but is misinformed in regards to an alert system...guess he never heard of a weather radio!
Here is the link...

I am still in contact with CBC and may be doing something with them later.

Too bad the interviewer did not spend a few minutes on Google first and it is also too bad that the interviewee was oblivious to Environment’s Canada Weatheradio. Net result, very poor reporting. We should never assume that people are informed. Maybe someone should send them the link:

I let the producer that contacted me know about the misinformation and offered to do an interview at a later date.
