Welcome to the forum.
I live in Ontario now but I have family connections to Bathurst.
New Brunswick is fortunate enough to not be over-populated. In the event of SHTF, the maritime provinces would be an island of calm, while much of central Canada and the U.S. would be in a state of panic. New Brunswick has ample hunting, fishing and farming, and an ethnically white homogeneity of population. These conditions would provide a high degree of stability in a wider crisis.
Having access to micro power generation such as wind or solar panels, and a ham radio to communicate with the world, one could live quite well as a new society evolves to replace the out-going one.
When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fail, one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle.
