Hi there,

In the event of SHTF, the best way to survive is to have a plan formulated with other people that have diverse skill sets. This is why I am here, in the hopes of finding such a group of people. So when/if SHTF, I will have a plan in place to take care of myself and loved ones.

I work with computers and networks but this does not mean I am a softie. I spent several years working on the rigs as a roughneck to pay for my education into IT.

The skills I bring to the table are mostly communications and technology. I would like to get more into generating alternate power sources as that is a definite interest of mine but have not had an opportunity to build/experiment yet and growing food.

I live in Calgary, AB and I am available to meet to discuss ideas further as well if need be.

Welcome aboard. There are a few Albertans floating about the boards, and from the sounds of things, some good activity in the Calgary area to become involved with if you are so inclined.

Hi Zipfel;

My wife and I are somewhat new to prepping, but I'm not completely. From since young we have both had a prepper mind set and I used to be in scouts. I also have a Technology background (Civil Engineering degree working in IT) but like you no softie. I also run my own fitness business where my specialties is outdoor fitness training and nutrition (this is one of my strengths that I bring). I am also good at building things and have done some of my own home renos (if I read or see it once I usually can do it). I did a bit of farming when I was a young boy helping my parents out on a 1/4 acre of land growing veggies...nothing too big but growing produce is not exactly foreign to me so that counts. With my scouting and outdoors experience i've gained some survival skills but it's something I am continuing to work on.

I'm also looking to meet some like minded people in Calgary with various skill sets. PM if you are interested in doing a meet-up as I would love to discuss ideas, experiences, etc.
