Hey everyone! Being new here I'm very inturested in the main reason(s) why other want to be prepared for disasters (natural or human made). Does not matter if it's Economic collapse, oil shortage, government take over, earthquake, tusami, drug induced zombie apocalypse (lol). I think preppers are the future because we came be protected by the government for ever. Hope to hear your answers. 😀

Welcome to the forum,

I'm pretty new here myself, there's some great people here, with a lot to share. I don't post much, but I come here often as there's always lots to learn.

I'm also in Hamilton, there's actually a large number of us on the forum, but we're not terribly well networked here. I recall there was some talk of a more official meet-up and some of us did have a small meet up at the Survival Expo.

Like most preppers, I don't think I'm prepping for any one thing, but I'm aware we live in a potentially extreme climate, it gets pretty cold here, a few years back there was a fairly minor ice storm and it crippled a good part of the Golden Horseshoe, imagine what it would be like if we got a serious ice storm? No heat and no running water in the middle of an Ontario winter is something I have tried to prepare for.

It's hard to really know what's coming, but I do know that it's good to have a solid network of like minded individuals.

Cheers

Welcome folks!
AmongLions, I was around for the 1998 Ice Storm in the winter and it was brutal for non-preppers. We were without electricity ( ie. no running water too since it takes electricity to power the water pump) for 2 weeks - others for twice as long. Luckily we were prepared or we would have had a negative outcome. Keeping warm was utmost important (we had young children) - we had 2 wood stoves.
Summer storms these days seem to be just as threatening. Climate change in general. And of course, who can forget the economy and where it's going.... Prepare for anything and everything to the best of your ability. Inform yourself.
This forum is awesome with many individuals who are well informed and experienced.
