I last used my upstairs gas stove Thursday evening. Some how I turned on one of the burners but did not light it. I didn't discover this burner turned on until Saturday night...so it would have been on for 48 hrs. I burnt some garbage in the upstairs wood stove at the same time that I must have turned on the burner. There was a odour that the propane makes but I thought it was from some plastic in the garbage I had burnt, and ignored it.
I dont know what air concentration is needed for a explosive mix but I could have been getting close.

You got lucky. Good think propane heavier then air. You would need allot to cover volume of rooms to have it build and get to the ppm to light up. Might want to invest in a electric sensor that turns propane off. Have one installed in trailer. Just in case there is a leak in the system or at least a detector with alarms.

Just pure stupidity on my part, I kept thinking that smell was from plastic I had just burnt even though I have burnt plastic lots of times before and it didn't smell bad. I need to give myself a good smack upside the head.

Don't be too hard on yourself peppercorn. Any landing that you walk away from is a good one. You were not killed by the experience, so you stand to learn something from it. Perhaps someone was watching over you.... I know, Bah Humbug! 🙂

None you improvise, one (or more) is luxury.

We are our worst enemy at times.
Being busy, tired, multitasking, age etc
Almost killed myself a number of times and I mean dead!
Wayne’s observation on someone watching over us may be closer to reality then we think.
Perhaps peppercorn should make a contribution to Tammy and jim baker church 😆 😆 😆 😀

Seriously, some alarms or even what seems like dumb reminders at key locations may help jog our busy minds. Can’t hurt!

Everyone stay safe, lots of people will be depending on all of us.

Merry Christmas
