I have found myself feeling a bit detached over the last few years from friends and family when trying to have adult discussions about current events. It is somewhat a relief to find that there are some people left in Canada that are not entirely consumed with American Idol, etc etc.. I am new to New Brunswick, and glad to be here ( don't like the taxes) but glad none the less. My history may be a bit different form others on the forum. I moved here from Alberta two years ago, I owned a concrete company out there for 14 years. During that time I was also a city councillor and a sitting member on the executive for the P.C party. After about eight years in politics, I started to figure things out that the average person may not realise without the exposure. I worked on sustainability in and around my community, and at first was sold on the whole ordeal. It took me a little time to realise what I was involved in, and where it had originated to finally see the light.
I do not personally buy into the "doomsday" theories surrounding prepping, but I am not here to knock those who may. I see the need for people to prepare through a different lense. After my experience in local government I have learned one thing for sure. There will be no sudden event that will have us running for our bug out bags, rather, it will be a slow intentional transition to hard times. And for many in our communities, we are already feeling the pinch.
One thing I was hoping to achieve by coming to this forum, was to perhaps find a group of people that may be interested in meeting from time to time, and perhaps start an action committee. Perhaps we can just casually meet and discuss current events, or, maybe we can do more if enough people would get involved. Information is key, and the more local people we can get on the same page, the more chances we have to shine some light on certain subjects. The worst that can happen is that our concerns fall on deaf ears, the best that can happen is perhaps keeping some hope for our children that they may have the same opportinities we have had. Thanks for your time, hope to hear from some of you in the future.
Hello Liberty,
Welcome to the forums, I am looking forward to having some adult discussions with you and others in the near future.
It's good to see activity on the NB site as well.
Remember that most of us move amongst the provincial threads and join conversations that interest us. It would have been interesting to have you at our AB meetings before you moved away 😥
HI & WELCOME! Yes...as Dangphool said, sorry you left us in Alberta but hope you find the people you need in your area! Dang...you & M can never move out of province...your posts make me giggle!
Welcome to the forum Liberty and Greetings from Northern Ontario. We actually have a lot in common and I understand you outlook. I look forward to your posts.
Thank you all for commenting back. And a big hello to my fellow Albertans. A quick question for you cranky. Do we have a network here in moncton that meets monthly? Or are you just now trying to set something up? Im not quite sure how the messaging works on this site yet. I will spend some time today trying to figure things out. But, you can count me in on any meetings in the future. I will keep an eye on my message box.
Hello and welcome
waving from Southern Ontario
I think a lot of us on here have the same issue "feeling a bit detached over the last few years from friends and family when trying to have adult discussions about current events"
Once you make enough posts, you'll be able to private message (pm) others...
