The input on IPN has been dismally slow lately...so I am here in my hoody by the woodstove...in My favorite togue that has "Misfit" in bold letters across the front. I like wearing it this time of year to boldly proclaim that I am from the island of misfit toys. I wore it at a Christmas party last night...of average everyday Canadians. It was the wrong party to be invited to but I always try to learn something if I can. I dragged along a couple that had come from a couple provinces over that were bold enough to face traveling this time of year...because they wanted to move in with us in our survival community experiment...and they wanted to invest the time with us to know it was the right choice before coming here in the spring to begin a new life. It was the right fit. You will all get new articles about their new life in a Yurt. I generally wouldn't consider such a thing but these folks were well experienced in this lifestyle, having wintered in a yurt in...Nasty upper canadian northern climes. They already had the experience. They wont die...on my property. If you haven't already done it before...don't ask me. I wont let you. LOL....die on my property, that is.

We also brought along a very well travelled young German fellow that was flown in from Europe that is house sitting at one of our "Friends of the club"s bio dynamic farm, close by. I'll get to him later. He also brings worthwhile news of ill tidings and joy.

Sooo...clearly, we didn't fit in at this party. They were very fine Christmas hosts. Great food. We weren't excluded in any way...But they were the average everyday hard working Canadians....and we weren't. So....what exactly makes this news worthy.. Me in my leather, and both me and Mrs C5 being Motorcycle riders...The person that decided to chat with us was a local motorcycle salesman.

The conversation went something like this. Him,"The average price of a bike has dropped 2 thousand...but it will go back up again".
Me, "Its the Commodities Crash...and the demographic bubble bursting. It wont be going back up.
Him, "It was a Trend. Now every body has two Harleys in their garage and they are watching the value of those bike drop to the basement".
Me," Its a Baby Boomer bubble ending. They have gotten to the end of their spending spree...and its over...really over. They wont be buying anymore. The next generation has no money. The prices wont be going up. Their 'assest' Harleys and other crap will only get sold at thrift store prices." (I was being vague and kind. Who wants to hear,' Your sales career is over. Merry fucking Christmas. Dead Man walking".)
Him, (commenting on Albertan oil worker debt load) "The moment I see on the loan request form that their income is 100 thousand a year to three hundred thousand dollar a year...we wont finance them...(Because they are dead men walking. My interpretation) We immediately assume they are already mortgaged to the tits with an expensive home they cant sell, the star spangled truck, Quad, Boat and every other toy. They are so far in debt that no matter what their income is, if we arranged a lone for them...they would have absolutely nothing we could repossess if they forfeited on the motorcycle lone. Its almost a guaranteed loss to us. we cant do it".

Well. IPN doesn't have many posts at the moment and needs a bit of a kick in the ass. So here is some worthwhile news for you to adjust your life to...from average everyday Canadians. Merry Fucking Christmas. This non average Canadian in the Misfit Togue is just the messenger. Im feelin very Jesus like. The manger party is cool and all with gold and frankincense...but thirty years later...it ends with scapegoating, a cross, and my sexiest Jesus Christ pose. I've got a decade and a half on the immortal J.C. so "live fast and die young" only really seems to work for gods. He didn't need a pension, savings and a working medical system. Im not expecting to see any of those either but for completely different reasons. I mentioned the Cross...and scapegoating from "average Canadians".....pleas excuse the rambling circular logic I tend to use. I say nothing without a point. A life altering, get your shit together, point...

Oh. About the visiting, world traveling young German farm sitter I brought to the chistmas party. I hadn't chatted with him for a couple of years. Pretty quick in our conversation he said, "Many of my European news connections have been saying the U.S. is on the verge of a civil war. Its insane." Ive been saying this for about four years now. Most people look at me like Jesus. As in Nuts in need of a cross. As people lose their two Harley baby boomer privilege...they don't really want to hear about mud huts as being normal. They want to blame anyone but them selves. "First they came for the socialists"...fuck it. you know the rest of the famous german quote. "Then they came fore the trade unionists. Then they came for the Muslims." I'm paraphrasing...followed by... Manic post chistmas chanting's of "Crucify him!!! Crucify the king of the Jews...

This is a C5 seasonal news report. In case I haven't said it enough. Merry fucking Christmas.

Awe come on C5! You Christmas Grinch... This deserves a well written OpEd but I'm so not as eloquent as you are.

I believe in enjoying Christmas. Not the commercially-driven, must-have-a-party-every-day-from-dec10-onward, but the spiritual kind of Christmas. The time spent with family, creating or fostering some family traditions. The few days off from work and the change of pace from the daily grind.

I want to be at peace as a "prepper" seeing myself able to shelter storms as they come. I can't continuously keep my mind on prepping with images of gunfights to guard my morsels of food or the thought of having to come out of my underground bunker to tend to my guerilla garden; not happy thoughts and makes me miserable.

So... A few days ahead of Chrsitmas, here's HP's $0.03 worth (inflation you know):

1) relax, it's f-ing Christmas
2) try and enjoy the company of your family... And the in-laws (yikes!)
3) don't succumb to the commercial aspect of Christmas. You don't need to join every stupid gift exchange crap!!
4) take time to relax (repeat of point #1 for emphasis!). A nice cup of cocoa (with or without a few oz of Bailey's) watching an old Christmas movie with family is fun
5) expensive gifts don't mean better gift. Buy crap you can afford. Actually, don't buy crap, buy something useful that would last.
6) and if you're Christian, remember Christ in Christmas....

Merry Christmas to all y'all (plural of y'all in "the south")!!!!

(Hoping someone can do better at OpEd'ing C5 than I did)

no nothing will come of it...I on the otherhand would have droned them all in a instant if I had the power, and then had breakfast.
Well off, ranchers wanting more land to graze their heards on...seeing if they cant trump up support from prancing "patriots" with nothing else to do 🙄 .
I can only imagine what a native American must be thinking listening to that camoed up gas passer yapping about his "land and rights"

And schools are closed in the area, for a full week at least, because of these pistol packing morons..how are these guys different from the Taliban?....I can only shake my head...well with further thought maybe the school closing thing isn't so bad, its not like kids really need to learn anything, fox news can provide all the knowledge the little kids need for a life in America. So long as they can make a x on loan applications, not much more is required of them.

OK. Where to start. They have legitimate grievance. What happened to Hamonns insults the soul. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1JzuQf4DMU

After that...the narrative breaks down....and a large level of the population sees the obvious hypocrisy...but not everyone. Those on the white right are screaming about media pulling the race card. See hypocrisy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZDJ8r-69bI

The specifics are not what you should be focussing on. You almost have to soft focus, detach your own opinions, float way back like a ghost and see the ebs, flows and patterns of news. There is a general Animus in the population of the US. Why does this affect us in Canada? Because our bipolar neighbours are within driving distance.
Even in the mainstream center of their politics...that do represent what people think. On one side is Trump that is basically Hitler without the brains or charm. On the other side is Hillary that is basically the giant, radioactive, Rodan. The populations is pissed and frightened.

It only takes the right Black Swan event to set off the powder keg

Think of how fast thing went south in Ukraine. This event seems remarkably similar to a similar event that happened in the early stages of Ukraine.
Random example- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRa5Q3rxzVo

I understand your point, the thought this could get traction and be a tiger by the tail moment....Well anything is possible.... I suppose...but I really don't think this barrel of monkeys is getting traction on anything and the longer they go on the bigger fools they make of themselves.
Imported welfare cowboys is what they look like to me, actors looking for a stage, .....I have no sympathy for the Hammons, nor anything against them as such regarding there legal dispute..don't know the full facts, but examples of punitive legal action abound, I don't see these prancing cowboys looking for civil forfeiture law changes, No...gross examples of the legal mugging of individuals under that legislation abound, but most on the receiving end are poorer, and without the resources to fight....these guys want to get the hammons who by the way own something like 1000 acres....more land, and land from the public....Im not crying a river for them.....
And that's just their stated goal....I suspect this is just a attempt to try and crack open, protected lands throughout the USA for larger corporate interests...These imported welfare cowboys didn't find their way to Oregon on their own (they couldn't find it on a map) someone liquored them up and chartered the bus, ...Im going to get some popcorn...time is not on their side the more interviews they give the dumber they look.

I hope someone is on the money trail....

Well ...seems Ammon bundy got a 500000 loan from quess who...anyone.....Uncle Sam, meaning he likely struck out everywhere else first. I wonder if he is behind on payments? How come no reporters are asking him about his funding to the tune of 500000? from A government he claims is oppressing him...Hmmmmm I smell hypocracy...its a sweet smell...like Sambuca... The plot thickens

Why am I finding this strangely familiar, wasn't there a movie about this a decade or so ago...some cowboys on a mountain just wanting to be left alone ....I see a skit for saturdaynight live if this is still going on by the weekend....Bare Back Mountain, starring Ammon bundy, giving true patriot love a whole new twist....a man, a couple men, maybe more, some nervous horses...this just writes itself....to bad Belushi is dead he would be right for the role.

Just as you, I don't necessarily condemn nor condone these guys, but I think "The Feds" are playing this right. Where it seemed that only 2 options would unfold : a) armed response by the government, resulting in a Waco-like massacre and further distrust of gov agencies or b) the gov capitulating to the demands, opening the door for any "Yeehaadist" or militia to stand up for any silly reasons, the government seemed to have used option "C" ignoring them all together! Like a bully that doesn't get any audience nor attention, the fun or interest quickly fades away. Cut the power to the Malheur Lake facilities and ignore them. Media interest will also fade away rapidly with the next big news, like when the Kardashians will adopt a new pet iguana or something. The good ole boys will also soon start missing home and want to go back anyway. By doing so, the Feds also gives them a chance to somewhat keep face by slowly letting them disappear, riding away in the sunset like Cowboys do... Done! End of a crisis that never was.

YeeHadists. That's funny. I will have to steal that.
You guys are missing my point. Its not the individual event. Its that the individual event is happening at all....and that I am not surprised in the slightest. Yawn. Its so predictable.

The important rule here is not to just listen to the news that tells you what you already think. You should have collected multiple news outlets from the far right, the far left and the creamy middle. Even the bat shit crazy paranoids are useful...if only to keep track of what the bat shit crazy paranoids are up to...then like I said "detach your own opinions, float way back like a ghost and see the ebs, flows and patterns"

With that, I'll go off and start a new thread....on "2016 prediction"

I do get your point...Understand your intent, thought it clear enough that no comment was necessary so off I go on a amusing, to me, tangent. The content of your example just has so much (unintended I am sure) irony I cant help myself.....
