Hello all, I am not new to prepping but I am new to this forum. I've been a reader and sometimes contributor to Survival Bill's site, also APN and of course Guy's Canada Prepared Forum ( http://www.canadaprepared.com/ ). I also follow Jim Rawles' SurvivalBlog every day.

My family and I have a small farm in Northeastern N.S. where we raise our own beef, chicken, turkey and eggs. We have a fairly large, but usually not largely successful, garden. Family, farm and off-farm work keep me busy but I am also involved in my church and community. Sometimes I like a good "tin-foil hat" kind of argument with my co-workers.

I look forward to contributing here as well.

Welcome, Lee. I will also (soon, very soon) be living in northeastern NS. I hope you can find your way to the meetup in the Truro area in late April.

Thanks for the welcome folks. The meet in April sounds interesting.

hi all im also new to the prepper network and prepping. im more of the live off the land- be self sefficient in the middle off the woods type. i grew up and live in very rural ns, hunting, fishing and farming. we currently have a 110+ acre farm that has all we need to live off, although i'm a little short on hay land we've got lots of pasture and wood land. i have to admit i never took prepping seriously until 12/21/12 and started watching doomsday preppers, after my two kids were born i started paying more attention to the world's affairs wondering about their future, it was a real wake up call. all though we try to be as self sefficient as we can i can see we need to do more. i look forward to learning as much as i can and mabey contribute some of my back woods knowledge. thanks
p.s. just wondering if anyone has checked out the backwoodsman mag. there is alot of good survival tips-tricks in there, its worth the read.

Hi All

I live in Eastern Passage and the name is Scott. I used to prep but gave it up (long story). I am unemployeed so not much prepping going on with me but once I'm back working I plan to get on the wagon. Meeting like minded folk sounds like fun but I don't have a car. I'm up for a Halifax or Dartmouth meet. Right now I'm in the research stage of prepping. I have a criminal record so firearms are out for me. I'm a firm believer in OPSEC.

What I want to prep for.

Most likely in my view - Hurricanes, winter storms and cheap ass Emera not putting the money into the powergrid to keep it working.

Less likely but still possible is a CME resulting in an EMP. I have an app to track the changes on the sun called 3D Sun.

Even less likely - Is peak oil, global food shortage, rising sea levels (at least in my lifetime) world wide economic collape, and zombies.

Feel free to post some url for me to look at if you feel the last batch could happen. 😉

I'm looking to have a garden, solar panels, solar oven, rainwater collection. Will be learning the fine art of canning (not for bacon) and probably make a solar dehydrator.

Did I mention I'm prediabetic? Working on reverse that condition with walking, weights and diet. Reading Prediabetic for Dummies, interesting book.

Welcome Scott,
You will enjoy this site and others like it. There is a wealth of knowledge about a myriad of survival topics.

A little prepping at a time goes a long way - slow and steady wins the race. Re: OPSEC - don't post too much personal info out "there" under your own name.

Hey Lee

Thanks. I've been here for a few weeks and did post a few tips of my own. Hopefully they are helpful.

Good morning everyone, my family and I are new to prepping. Unfortunatly, we live in a surburban environment and are unable to prep the way I would like. We enjoy camping in our trailer and hanging out with friends. We keep a decent stock of food, firewood and water filtering system; just the basics. I am pretty sure that when the time comes and looting begins we are going to have to leave our house. I keep looking at land but find that good land is outside of my budget and that my family and I wouldnt last long working the land or defending it when the time came without a community to back us up. My wife and I are a fairly fit and hard working and we have two little kids. We both have public service related jobs so our formal skills are pretty much useless in the prepping community. I chop my own firewood, perform house repairs and vehicle maintence. I would love to find a family oriented group who likes to hang out and have fun, enjoys the outdoors, has a interest in being prepaired for the inevidable, and planned location. Feel free to msg me if this is you.
