Just pick up a gammo air rifle .177cal now believe it or not you do need a PAL but @1250 fps / 416.6 yards a second with (pba raptor ammo/ lead pellets)you can drop just about any small game you want as well as some large game what turn me on to this was watching a hunting program on TV this guy killed a 150lb hog with the same kind of air rifle at about 50yards!
I will be more the happy to let you know how well it performs !
oops
Yes it was misread ! I used to hunt with a air rifle as a kid though it you be some to do with the kids as they have there own air rifles
I have a Stoeger, in the same calibre. Couldn't be happier with it. You can shoot for hours and spend a few cents. Also, it is a good workout for your arm. 😀
I too, saw that video of the pig hunt and was impressed with the stopping power.
Did a little rabbit hunting this morning and I got four rabbit in the freezer now this gamo air rifle dropped each rabbit and I will tell you two of the four rabbits where just about a 100 yard out and they dropped with one shoot and same as the other two bunny just a lot closer ! Can't wait to see what else I can add to the freezer with this bad boy ! Don't get me wrong my rugger 10/22L is great for bunny but this is even cheaper lol
my Crosman Phantom .22 cal airgun is a cheap and quiet way to hunt small game!!...
Sarnia, great follow up and examples, thank you very much.
well another hunting season is just about done but i will tell you the camo air rifle has put a lot of bunnys in my freezer ! i must say it was a great investment it make a great small game gun
I have a Stoeger, piston air rifle. Also around 1250 fps and I love it. Little to go wrong. Not much cleaning and you can buy 500 pellets for around CDN $ 12.00. Just wait for them to go on sale. ( the good ones)
At just under $400, not going to break the bank either.
Cheers,
i got an old russion pellet gun i got 20 years ago for my 10th birthday shot just over 1000 fps and went about 15 years befor i had to replace any parts. Nice little air gun, i have since passed it on to my kids, my daughter just got her first .22 (a rugar 10/22) so it has gone to the next oldest. All in all in 20 years I dont think i have spent more then $600 in pellets and it has so far taught 2 people how to shoot and is working on its third, im hoping it lasts long enough to teach one more kid after this one.
Another alternative for those with out a PAL is a flint lock, i picked on up about a month ago just for fun and was actually suprised (traditions p.a.. accurate at 150 yards (mabe farther but my eyes dont work that far) and fun to shoot, not to mention a piece of history .... well ok mines not a piece of history but you get the point. It will be a little expensive to gett into you but if your like me and already shoot muzzle loader you have everything you need except flint. Best of all about this is you can essentially find your own ammo in a pinch just wrap it in patches until it fits the barrle.
