Are there any rifles and handguns that use the same ammo/magazine?
It seems like that would make choices easier in a shtf bugout situation where defence is your primary concern, versus hunting scenarios.
I'm thinking of real teotwawki situations.
i called Ruger to get a bx 25 round mag for my 22lr.they said they can not ship to Canada due to a Canadian law about
the mag will fit in a Ruger handgun.(no idea what one).i told them i can get a butler creek one up here
that fits a Ruger 22lr.they said the law will not let Ruger sell up here because they make both.
kind of dumb law if a butler creek will fit both.
looked on the web for this handgun found nothing that even looks like a bx mag would fit.
maybe i got the Ruger person on the phone confused on what mag i wanted.
As per the question rifle and pistol that use the same mags .yes there are a few out there , but only in pistol calibre. There are some exceptions but I won 't get into that now . #1 glock 17 (9mm). This mag goes with the JR carbine (just right) they have 3 sizes 9mm ,40cal,45acp .You can glocks in all 3 cal for 100 yards or less 90% of your shooting you can't go wrong ,by the way the just right carbine is also non restricted so you can practice almost anywhere .Under 2000$ for both.#2 Kris carbine 45 cal , glock mag ( pistol) Kris is pricy 2500 $also non restricted #3.beretta storm 9mm
Takes beretta 92 mags ,available non restricted Less mags to buy carry , same mag pouch you can customize your ammo needs by reloading . Buying same model of gun in different calibres can be an advantage , I have three 1911's 22 ,9mm,45 I can change most parts with each other. Most important learn your gun ,learn to shoot now , learn how it works take it apart , ask questions learn what breaks first order spare parts.Learn how to repair your gun because who else will do it if tshtf parts would be priced like gold or unavailable .Extra springs ,pins and extractors ,trigger, sear not to pricey.you- tube has great videos on gun repair, take-down ,cleaning .hand tools are few and not expensive you may have some already. If your starting 22cal rifle 30-06 ,308, 223 ,556 good choices 22cheap ,30-06, 308,223 . Easy to find. But let's not forget the sks 7.62 x39 real cheap gun and ammo ,decent shooter, and as far as the fmj round. Good practice round , not for hunting ,butt if you had to shoot at a threat it would still get the message.millitary surplus can be a great source to start out with when your on a budget.you can save your money for mre's .Battle rifles are usually a very robust design and will serve you well .In regards to the earlier question of ammo supply 2000 rounds per calibre of your 3 favorites .3 guns 1 to get the food #2'to walk with your food #3 the one to keep your food. Cheers and do a little at a time 😀
The Beretta 92F and the Beretta Storm both use the same magazine. I'm not a big fan of the 92F but the Storm is one sweet carbine.
Those who are unwilling to defend freedom, will become unfree.
Can you seriously buy that Kriss in Canada? I've not seen it on any of the websites I frequent...
Anyone have any ideas on the cost?
I think I need help on this. Maybe a meet or something. I have been trying to follow all the great comments in the thread but it's like you are all speaking a different language.
I'd be happy to share what I know with you and put it into laymans terms. Anytime.
The Kris is 2500.00$, the storm is 15-1700.00 buy the time you install the n/r barrel .try looking on firearms Canada you will find a not bad list of suppliers in Canada my choice is the beretta storm first , the JR carbine , then the kriss , I just find the kriss a little ugly but no recoil on it .The storm is a beautiful gun ,light easy to shoot and is easy to control in tight quarters . Short barrels are light and easy to pack into the back country .I like the simplicity of the single mags , no grabbing the wrong mag when you transition between rifle to pistol, and pistol mags are quite a bit easier handle and store in vest or belt mag pouches no need for a mag specific vest or chest harness to carry ammo.

No worries. These weapon combos use the same ammunition and magazines. This makes it easier to carry fewer types of rounds and spare parts (I hope).
Beretta Storm:

The Kriss is a unique weapon that looks more impressive as a fully-automatic than as the legal semi-auto we can get here in Canada. I didn't realize it used the same magazine as a glock pistol till cowtown pointed it out.
Just Right Carbine which also apparently uses a glock magazine...

Hope that helps.
