Im a huge hunter and recreational shooter with rifles and handguns. I feel we need to get more people involved in shooting sports and activities. I am willing to help anyone who has an interest in firearms whether it be preparing for a course or a test or shooting itself. I currently live in Nappanee Ontario and I'm a member of the Napanee Rod and gun club. Anyone interested in coming out for a day doing some shooting learning all in a safe manner feel free to contact me either on this site or through p.m. We will work on general basic safety precautions of a firearm how to use a firearm in a safe manner then we will get into some really fun target shooting and after that is complete, if I feel comfortable and you feel comfortable we can then move into handgun training as well you don't need to have a pal, you don't need to have any experience whatsoever I will guide you through the entire process. At that point you can then decide whether or not you want to take a course or a test to try and obtain your pal or your restricted license which untitled you to purchase and poses firearms. I'm personally involved in IDPA which stands for international defensive pistol Association. The more people we get involved in shooting sports The less taboo it becomes I'm offering to take anyone who's interested and can get to my location it's in Napanee close to Kingston. I would like to take small groups at a time preferably 2 to 5 people depending on their experience level however if anyone is interested please add to this thread an expression of interest let me know a good time we will try and set something up. I have to work around my work schedule as well as time with my son but I am more than willing to help anyone interested. The only cost would be for the Ammo that is used that is all ammo and target expenses will be figured out at the time of arrival or maybe prior to, we can set something up let me know if anyone is interested.
I am very interested in learning about this! I would need to make it up there for a day though. But definitely interested!
Well feel free to PM me a time that works for you I'll check my availability and we can make it happen. I have a variety of firearms that you can try and I'm sure we can have lots of fun. Feel free to bring some friends that might be interested.
Bravo, Bigred613, for taking the time to pass on your knowledge. If any one is out there, in a different region could do the same it would be great. Another topic, under the same heading, would be reloading. I've had to self teach myself on this one, and my ex wasn't to keen about me doing this in the basement. Anywho, again Bravo.

Plenty of people and opportunities closer to many of you.
If anyone close to me is interested I will try to arrange something. Post or PM me and I'll try to organize something for you.
You have to do some homework first though.... there is a test.
What is ACTS and PROVE ?
can I post the answer? lol
I know the answer too 🙂
OOOHHH...OOOHHH...ME...ME...I KNOW...I KNOW...

Assume every firearm is loaded.
Regard any firearm as potential danger.
Control the muzzle direction at all times.
Identify the safest available muzzle direction.
Keep the firearm pointed in the safest available direction.
The muzzle of a firearm should not be pointed towards yourself or any other person.
Trigger finger must be kept off the trigger and out of the trigger guard.
Resist the temptation to put your finger on the trigger or inside the trigger guard when you pick up a firearm.
Accidental discharge is far more likely to occur if your finger is on the trigger or inside the trigger guard.
See that the firearm is unloaded - PROVE it safe.
Do not handle the firearm unless you can PROVE it safely.
Check to see that both chamber and magazine are empty. Do this everytime you handle a firearm, for any reason.
Pass or accept only open and unloaded firearms. This is an important habit to develop.
PROVE it safe:
Point the firearm in the safest available direction.
Remove all cartridges.
Observe the chamber.
Verify the feeding path
Examine the bore for obstructions
A...C...T...S...
Ask someone if they loaded the gun.
Consider the answer to be the truth.
Try it by dry firing at your best friend.
Scream and run from the cops who want to arrest you for manslaughter
Close enough for a pass?
Those of you who passed are now qualified to begin learning from me.
Firearms, while fun, are to be treated with the respect any potentially lethal activity deserves.
Never used to be an issue when people used guns as tools and everyone had em. Somehow Hollywood messed that up. Then came the Liberals......
HI BigRed,
I'm in Oshawa, but own land just North of you, and I would love the opportunity to learn more about firearms as well my friend and I are very interested in obtaining our PAL certs, and I would like to obtain the needed licensing to be able to legally purchase firearms (restricted certification). Since I do own land in the Bob's Lake area, hunting is always a itch I've wanted to scratch. I used to bow hunt 12-14 years ago, but I had a son and his mom didn't want me to continue. I'm not with her anymore and my son has shown a massive amount of interest in hunting and outdoors (he's 12) I was planning on bow hunting with him this year.
I do a lot of shooting with air rifles and pellet guns. I'm a firm believer that knowledge is priceless, so anytime I have the chance to get smarter, I take it!
I am very interested in this opportunity to learn as My husband has plenty of knowledge and his pal (non Restricted) I dont have my pal but would love the opportunity to acquire some knowledge and handling of non restricted and restricted firearms. I would like to be able to get PAL certified for both.
I am very interested in this opportunity to learn as My husband has plenty of knowledge and his pal
I find it hard to believe that he doesn't want to take you shooting ....... there are just a very few basics and then it's just practice.
Do some searching.
Fundamentals of marksmanship - rifle or pistol
Once you know these basics it's just practice, practice, practice.............
