If money was not an object, what do you think would be the perfect bug out car, truck, etc?
This is my plan. I have a mid 80's k5 blazer to use to bug out to my soon to be camp. large enough to carry my family and tow my trailer. If that fails i have 2 ATVs and a smaller trailer in the trailer that can carry us all and all our gear. We travel to a location to meet with my two friends and their familys at a property ownd by myself north of Barrie. there we have a number of snowmobiles and ATVs if needed to travel the rest of the way or can pull them on a trailer to the camp. I have neough fuel at all times at my home to fill my truck twice and fuel the ATVs as wel as a 1500l gas tank at the porperty that is kept full and an extensive gas can collection. The only way to reach the camp is by ATV or snowmobile. the only thing i am missing is the camp but will be buying the property this spring.
I think what makes a good bug out vehicle is a good robust vehicle (4x4 of course) that is dependable easy to repair and has as many easy to find parts to repair it. thats why i have my chev. My ATVs are hondas and i only ride Ski doo! you can spend all you cash on one option but i prefer to have a back up plan.
:twisted:I`m not carzy everyone else is!
'07 Ranger 4X4. If that fails, the black cadillacs (combat boots). A slightly different route for each, but most of what I'll need is already at the cabin and the rest I could carry on my back. Once I arrive, the four footed equines.

Bugging out is pretty low on my list. Very low.
For the near future a vehicle that gets great mileage will be quite an asset.
After thinking this over a LOT, the solution for me has been a 2005 VW diesel. I drive it pretty hard but it still gets 45mpg average. 6.7l per 100 k. over the life of the car in all conditions. Best I've ever done is 950k from the 55l tank but that was on a trip to Florida at 110kph average. On rural roads at 85km/hr I've seen the fuel consumption go to 4.5l/100k. That is 60mpg.
A pair of 5 gal cans will fill it from empty.
It's also rated to tow 1/2 ton and I regularly do, I might stretch that on occasion. A small trailer will hold more than an SUV and you won't drag the weight around all the time as you would with a pickup.
Offroad capability is practically non-existent. Plan accordingly.
The trailer will carry my ATV, and the ATV will tow the trailer if it really came down to it.
We'll be short of fuel or it will be very expensive long before you'll need to bug out. Plan for the likely first, then worry about the long shots.

price is no object then an CDN 8x8 Piranha with the engineers package, outfitted with a quick shelter in the rear that slides out, and the quick shelter is unrolled onto the pullout framework and voila, quick tent setup, with extra range fuel tanks as well

i'd have a 18 wheeler, pulling two trailers, one stocked with food/water (pump and filter)/gear. the other one holding ATV's, snow mobiles, a 4x4 pick up, fuel storage (at least a million gallons 🙂 ) and kit from nightrider! of course the trailers are faraday cages. . .
if money didn't matter, i might go something like that. but i'd need a lot of time to plan/find and make it happen.
i've seen some crazy pictures of tripped out BOV's that i can only drool over. but i do like what i have too. it's too bad money does matter.
adsum. . . aut viam inveniam aut faciam
A reality is I already have my bug in/bug out vehicle 1988 Ford 7.3ltr diesel box truck modified to live in and be bug out vehicle. I do need to bug out
Now here is another option
A cheaper version of the vehicle I posted above would be to take the Body from a 8x8 Cement Truck,
modify it Flat Deck that can hold;
a hardened camper
or dump box
or cargo box etc
have it with a combo trailer hitch the pintle and ball mount kind and have it pull a modified farm trailer, the farm trailer has the wheels in the front a longer hitch so I can go over rough terrain without getting the vehicle stuck as often.
Or the 8x8 Tatra
or this
KAMAZ 8x8 Truck in action IDEX / Russian Trucks
i already have a f800 diesel 4 x 4....ive got a trees spade on the back of it at the moment, however its only on with u bolts and i could drop it off in half an hour...i suppose that may become a bug out vehicle seeing as the tanks always full...bout a 1400 km range with a full tank...in a shtf scenario the tree spade will be dropped at my 800 foot driveway, dug into the ground and released from the truck anyway....noone can get a vehicle down my driveway then! (it weighs 5600 lb's)

If money is no object then I might opt for a Nyala or a Mamba. They're both manufactured here in Canada and heavily armoured. Sorry, I don't have enough geek in me to figure out how download pictures.

exactly the same as the casspir, just smaller....same frame, everything...also SADF like the Casspir
